Obama is not going anywhere. If he gets elected, then the US is doomed for the next 4 years. i see people talking about him like he's Jesus Christ on his second coming. This dude has zero experience and his speeches are reminder of a blending between MLK and some paragraphs from Alice in Wonderland. He's just saying "Change, change", but it's all empty. Nice words, but..., I am rooting for Clinton-Edwards. However, I guess that the ticket is already done, and it will feature Barack and John.
On the other hand, I think that a Rep will get the White House. America is conservative, no matter how you look it. I just hope Giulani is the one, that Rommey looks like a fucking preppy from the East Coast, plus Huckabee is a joke and McCain is too old.

Here in California, Arnold Schwarzenegger ran for governor on pretty much exactly the same campaign platform. He was also considered inexperienced, but was also extremely charismatic. People in California wanted change, and Arnold promised to give it to them.
Unfortunately, as time has shown, many of the things he's promised he hasn't been able to deliver, and many of the things he's promised not to do (like "No new taxes! People of California are taxed too much!"), he's gone back on.
For all I know, Obama could turn out to be a capable leader. But voting someone in on charisma alone can lead to some spectacular disappointments.

Obama's not the second coming of Christ, but he is a generational shift in US politics. He represents a changing of the guard, it's like you taking your senile old parent's car keys away after they've hit one too many mailboxes.
Here's a guy who's been open and sincere from day one, all of his dirty laundry is aired and public, and he has the audacity to say...publicly no less...that all of the ridiculous bickering and pidgeonholing that goes on in US politics is killing our country and turning us into apathetic cynics. Apathy turns into complacence, and then you get 9/11, the Patriot Act, and George W. Bush.
So while Romney and Huckabee and Clinton stand on a podium and declare this is an "Us vs Them world" and promise to fight the other party to the death...Obama can look at Republicans and Conservatives and say "I wanna be your President, too."

Did you vote for Arnie? I voted for him because my Vehicle Licensing Fee under Davis was $235 fucking dollars. Arnie got in and lowered it to $90.Zenimus said:

I'm sure we've had "experienced" candidates before and they've failed miserably as presidents. I think if Obama isn't gullible he would surround himself with a decent, experienced cabinet to steer through some of the thicker times.

personally, I don't expect a president to be good at anything anymore.
What I do want is for barriers to be broken - those of gender and race. I want the most qualified person for the job to be elected president - not the most qualified white man for the job.
Maybe Hillary has no strong foundation beyond pure political ambition. Maybe Obama has no experience. But if either of them gets elected, we will see better women run, better black men run. The idea of losing on the basis of sex or race won't be as huge a factor. How about that?

And yes, I did vote for Arnold. Twice in fact. That Car Tax was an abomination. For all that I bag on him, I will admit that I actually still like him as governor. He's stood strong on certain issues that Cruz Bustamante would've been disastrous on, and his speeches are still fun to listen to.
Like any politician, he's not perfect, but under the circumstances he's probably the best we could've gotten.

I don't have too much against Obama, but I still fall to get this sense of "the progressive youthful energy who's out for change" about him. He just strikes me as another carefully scripted politician who's PR staff has done a quality job.
Maybe the fact he used an openly homophobic gospel singer/preacher to help gather support from the religious voters in the South skewed my view of him early on.
Living in the South, that's a tactic you'll see quite often from the right-winged religious nuts that rule the land. It actually sounds like a tactic I'd of expected Huckabee to do, not someone claiming to be the future of progressive change.
Then again, the LGBT community is extremely small by % and it's not very smart to pander or cater to them at the risk of losing the much higher number of religious votes who oppose them.
