I picked it up too, loving the new cherry SG.

I haven't played GH in a while, so I played through the game on easy, pretty much five-staring every song. Can't wait to play it on a harder mode, and finally play Freebird, Hanger-18, etc.

There is a Rage song, therefore I must own this game.

I just wonder how they did Killing in the Name, especially the end part

Oh man, some of these songs are just too hard...I've been playing on expert and I was doing fine until set 7 and 8. Set 7 took a bit of work but it was manageable but Misirlou and Hangar 18 on set 8 are RIDICULOUS! Completely crazy! I didn't even unlock Freebird yet...

La sigh...my fingers ache...

Who Was In My Room Last Night, now that's a song that should be fantastic to play.

Of course, I will be getting in touch with my emo side and playing Message in a Bottle repeatedly, until I master it and can wear pink confidently.

It's funny, my friends and I where playing all night and we were extremely dissapointed in the song selection, untill 6 or 7th brackette(I forget which), then all hell breaks loose and GH2 completely redeems itself. Come on the fucking Pretenders, the Stray Cats? Heart Shapped Box has the worst vocalist I have ever heard covering that song. He sounds so red-neck hick-ish, when he says certain words like, complaint, cancer. Scott Lucas from Local H does an amazing cover of Cobain, they have dressed up as them for holloween and performed as Nirvana in Chicago at theDouble Door before. And I'm sorry, War Pigs if a fucking retarded choice for GH. There is way, way too much deadspace in that song, that makes it completely borring to play. In fact I dont even think its a very good song, period. I dont know why people at E3 were so hyped that War Pigs was in the game. And Killing in The Name is a horrible cover. Message in a Bottle, by the Police is a fucking great song and cover to play, and there are some definate highs to the game. They didnt spred out the quality like they did in the last GH. Every brackette in the first one at least one to two songs were memorable, in this one entire brackettes completely suck, but the last 2 or 3 brackettes save the game and completely rock.

You and your friends are a bunch of worthless pieces of shit. Pretenders>>>>>>>you. Glad I don't know any of you.

edit: Okay, that was too much. What I should have said is that I'm glad I'll never have to go on a long drive with you and your friends, because if Pretenders is something you complain about, your taste in music would probably depress the hell out of me. Yeah, that sounds better.

Hehehe, I figured I would make some people mad with that...When I bash the songs in GH2 I'm not saying I'm not a fan or don't like their music OUTSIDE GH, it's just that to me, it doesnt fit the game, because of fun to play etc. How much have you played the Pretenders song on GH? Is it me or does it seem off beat/key? I think the overall quality of the cover bands that they got to cover some of the tunes are a step down from GH1. Musicaly most are spot on, but the vocalists on some tunes could have been better. I dont ever remember saying, omg that cover was realy bad on GH1, but on GH2 I can....

War Pigs is fucking awesome.

So is Sweet Child O' Mine

I agree, some of the covers aren't so good, but that really doesn't make the songs any less fun to play.

You think War Pigs is a good song to play in GH? So much dead space? I would play Avenge Sevenfold, Message in a bottle, Sweet Child, Freebird, YYZ, and many many others b4 WarPigs. But hey, thats why all those titles are in there, to have variety and to appeal to everyone. Sweet Child of Mine fucking owns, when they ask you to do the encore and its that song I almost wet myself, I could play that opening riff a million times. It doesnt take away from the fun, but it does take away from the quality, the game got a 9.5 or whatever on IGN, its being trumpeted as better than the first, I just feel more care was put into the first, from a recording sound stand point.

All I fucking care about is Spinal Tap. Did they do "Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight", or was it a cover band?

Actually, I've been playing that one a lot. If I was going to choose one song from them to be in the game, that might not have been it...but without any Bowie in this one, Pretenders is probably closest to my favorite band represented here (probably followed by the '70s stuff). What's weird is that there are some bands I couldn't stand as a kid, that I kind of like playing now...like Cheap Trick.

Danzig=Wolverine.

You really got me
As made famous by Van Halen

I never even heard their version before.

They should correct it to the Kinks.

I like the co-op mode. My GF kept screwing me up on Message in a bottle, she kept messing up the bassline on easy...lol

Of course the Kinks version is what has endured, but the Van Halen version was huge in the early '80s...I was never really a VH fan, but I must have heard that song about a billion times back then...more than Panama or even Jump...it seemed like everyone I knew had an older brother playing the shit out of it. As far as the game goes, I'm sure they chose the VH version because of the more varried solo elements.

Good idea, I'm in.

Anyone know about an Euro release? Don't really want to import the JPN version.

It's funny how much easier it is to play Sweet Child O' Mine on the guitar than the game on expert.

I five starred everything on medium and got the coffin guitar.

Now it's time to up the difficulty.

The Buckethead song is WILD. I managed to get 86% on hard, but holy shit that solo is insane.

Finally got Freebird on Expert...damn. Stupid Hangar 18 took me like 10+ tries...I don't know who else has gotten that far but since Freebird is the encore song, it asks you if you wish to perform an encore. But this time the crowd actually starts chanting Freebird and the game asks you 4 or 5 times if you REALLY want to play Freebird or not. I thought that was quite funny.

I also actually looked into the practice mode which is quite cool. A nice addition for sure. Anyway, I'm off to try to beat Freebird. Failed it the first time around 70% : /

EDIT: After about 12+ tries, I finally beat Freebird! You get the Battle Axe and Pro Face-Off mode and I think one more thing but I wasn't paying much attention since I proceeded to smash my GH2 controller in true rock and roll hero fashion!

I think it's kind of stupid that you have to beat the game on all the difficulties and score 5 stars to get some of the bonus guitars. I think if you beat the game on a higher level, the lower level guitars should be available.
