I owe much of my slim physique to Tool. Whenever someone says that their "music" is "intelligent" or "good", I laugh so hard I burn off a week's worth of Double-Doubles.

Quoted for awesomeness!

My friends are trying to get me to listen to this, but my ex has me hating Tool.

Likewise. Let me guess: she was the pretentious, faux-artsy type with a splash of hippie "philosophy"?

So much Tool hate.

Seems like most hate the pseudo intellectual poser/faggots who are apparently drawn to their "intellgient" and "deep" lyrics.

For a rock band, I think tool rocks the house, with cool music + good lyrics. Thats about it. They rock my fucking socks off.

anyway

fuck the haters

crazed nin fans are worse then tool fans

Yeah, I honestly have no idea why there is so much Tool hate in the thread.

I mean the thread clearly states that it is a thread about Tool, yet people keep wanting to troll just to say something sucks.

And Lagduf, you are certainly right. Tool rocks my fucking socks off.

It's because every song they have sounds the fucking same. It was fine for the first album, but c'mon. I can't tell the difference between the new single I heard from every other song they've ever done.

And I don't understand why people hate on indie or underground music. You can hate the "pseudo intellectual poser/faggots" all you want. Hell, I just hate people in general. But there is some really great music out there that doesn't get force fed to you by the radio.

Of course there's good music from both sides, but I'm sorry, the majority of good music doesn't come from the mainstream side of the spectrum.

But that's all just opinion, so everything I just said doesn't mean shit.

bah it so subjective really

Aenima sounds miles apart from Lateralus as far as i'm concerned, but then i'm a big fan. Hell i'd even argue for difference between all the albums, but meh - that gets into the level of fan nerddom that I don't like to enter. No need for me to turn into a pretentious faggot.

The fuck the mainstream attitude however is completely absurd, at least when people hate on the mainstream simply so they can "be different" I hate those types. I agree that A LOT of good shit is never going to hit the airwaves, but sometimes the public wakes up and realizes it when there is a good band out there.

I don't know where you drew hatred of indie/underground music from, I don't know many types like that. I just hate people who pretend to be something they aren't. For example: We have a cool little tea shop in town that is unfortunately filled with losers who engage in "philosophical" discussions and generally talk about how smart they are when in reality they don't know shit about the formal study of philosophy, science, history or whatever the fuck they're experts on at that time. Because the reality is these fucks are l o s e r s who dropped out of highschool, failed college, and are generally worthless and will contribute nothing to society. But then again maybe they're just misunderstood

But yeah, I HATE PEOPLE, not indie music man. Glad we can agree on that point.

Hoax..?

Sounds like Tool to me...

So far sounds good.

I really like Tool, but Undertow is still their best and I am not sure if they will ever top it, they really had "it" back then. Not that the new stuff isn't good, but it isn't on that level.

And, it's always nice to hear something that is not a hip hop/metal hybrid, or some dopey indie crap.

Absolutely loving the new album so far.
My favourite tracks are Vicarious (despite it sounding a lot like Schism), Rosetta Stoned (fucking awesome song) and Jambi. About half of the album seems to be really quiet music (when compared to Tools older stuff that is).

Oh an album has leaked, and its Tool.

Its just not the album you'll be buying on May 2nd.

I'm pretty confident on this.

I won't disagree with you on that one. Fags like Curt make it tough to be a NIN fan sometimes.

I'm not crazy about tool, but saying they suck or whatever really is pointless. Again, tastes are subjective so there isn't any useful end to arguing about what's better etc.

That just a gut feeling you have? Because i'm interested to see what comes out on May 2nd. I wouldn't be surprised if what we get is not what we're listening to now.

Either way, I can't wait for the album to actually come out in stores.

Kid Aphex and I had like a 2 hour chat last night and compared notes on the multitude of reasons that this leaked album is a hoax. I wish I could go into depth, but the events leading up to and now surrounding this leak speak volumes about it being a purposely recorded decoy album consisting of unused recordings and/or re-works of songs that Tool never had intentions of releasing on an album proper.

Not to mention there more than "a few" moments on this album where it sounds EXACTLY (and I'm not talking in that 'Nickelback all sounds the same' way) like previous Tool songs, or lyrics make less than subtle references to previous Tool songs/themes.

I fail to believe Tool went from Lateralus to being creatvely bankrupt in 5 years.

Not to mention the "mastering" on this album is complete joke. Maynard sounds like he's singing from another room.
