Then again, the electronica music scene in this state isn't so hot.

Aw - too bad, maybe you weren't able to attend to the "right" events.

You know, I'll give you this much- Buro and Aphex probably aren't very socially adept. And probably wouldn't feel too comfy at some big club/rave dance event

Alright, explain yourself.

I just don't think either of you Arizonans are 'party people'

If I am wrong then tell me so and I will take it back

But don't fudge either- be honest

my take is that people who are "too smart" and too sophiscated have trouble enjoying themselves in public.

Being 'socially adept' and being a party person are way different.

As of late, I'm always out at a party and getting plastered. Are you kidding? The ASU party scene is retarded [ly large].

Am I dancing with glowsticks and JNCO jeans? Nah
I'm the alchemist, behind the bar, pouring third reichs and banging the dark haired psychotic girls at the end of the night.

I agree with you, I can't stand 99% of the argentine 'online community'

as for the rest of it. I cannot stand the dance scene. never got into it, I like electronic music but mostly to listen to. In particular Air and Daft Punk. because their music is great. and nothing touches Prodigy. I like music that breaks down barriers within their own genre, stuff that veeres off to the left and ends up at some unknown location. some people like things pure and others like fusion. I'm of the latter. The straight house and trance and other shit I have always disliked.
there are exeptions, but generally I enjoy things that are well designed and thought out. Like what the Chemical Brothers do which is genuinely great music.

The only thing I've ever been able to get into at clubs are big beats, the kind the cavemen probably danced to in their caves. the more dysfunctional and rustic the better.

I hate cumbia far more though - Mushiki, you know what I'm talking about.

Air tends to be too slow for my taste - Daft Punk has some great work, Virgin just sent me their latest album called "Human After All", I haven't checked it yet though, haha.

I do know, Argentinian cumbia is the biggest piece of shit ever created. Just check the Boca TV channel late at night and you'll get to see a bunch of retards "singing" that shit - pure comedy.

Don't bother. Listen to each track until you hear something you like, then skip to the next one. Each track is basically 30 seconds of something cool repeated for 5 minutes.

Yesterday I was at this event, with Pete Tong as the main DJ - it was such a fucking mess.

It was supposed to be held at a place called Mint, starting at midnight.

I was to attend with 3 other people, so at about 10 PM we were all at my place. All of a sudden, I get a call from Belen, a Heineken PR girl, she just calls to tell me that everything is fine, that she recommends that we arrive at 1 AM, and that she would be waiting there with our ticket straps.

An hour later, I get this call from Ma-Jo, another Heineken PR girl - she tells me that for X reason, the event won't be held at Mint, that they would be holding it at some other club called Museum, and that they would open the gates at 1:30 AM.

Chaotic, can you even imagine having to tell every single person who bought tickets that the location of the event was changed at the last moment? It's simply insane.

When we arrive at Museum, Ma-Jo was there, but she didn't have 4 tickets for me, she had 3. Fuck inorganzation. Anyway, she apologized, it was all because of the switching club chaos. All ok, we just had to buy a standard ticket, so we did.

Local DJs were good, Pete Tong was great as usual, Museum was really good as well, but there were simply too much people, drinks were pretty expensive, but it was worth it.

- Unfortunately there are no other future events being promoted at the moment, so I don't know what I will be attending to next.

Thanks for those who recommended UNKLE, I liked some of their tracks, but at the same time, I found them overall pretty "slow" for my taste.

RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE -

I am so happy, haha.

On the 4th of June, there will be an event called "Brahma Beats", that will feature the following line-up

James Lavelle (UNKLE)
Junkie XL
Dave Seaman
Ken Ishii
Francesco Farfa
Kazell
Telefunka

Obviously, there will be other local DJs as well... but having the chance of listenint to Ken Ishii live once more is exciting. Also, I am pretty interested in seeing what UNKLE has to offer live.

Tonight was held a small "party", mostly for the press and random famous people.

It was kind of a pre-Brahma Beats presentation, with the great Ken Ishii, live.

This was held at a pretty small but nice place called "CENTRAL" - a lot of free food, drinks and also merchandise (I would have never imagined I would get a free scarf at this kind of event...)

Anyway, Ken was there, offering great music as usual.

Here you have some pictures of the man - [sorry for the shitty cell-phone camera quality]

Man, I've been getting into this stuff lately, but have no idea what's good. It started with a search by me and another guy for the most stereotypical techno (or what most people think of as techno) song we could go out and find (we never found what we were looking for).

I've been listening to the following:

The Orb
Mitchell Akiyama
A german album called Archiv 1.1
Jagga Jazzist
Random stuff

I have a rhapsody account that I don't have to pay for so I've been looking through it for electronic music that I like, the only thing I've found is that I don't really like vocal tracks, any suggestions for the non-vocal stuff?

Get Benny Benassi's Hypnotica, a couple of Ken Ishii albums, some Mondo Grosso tracks... there have been several recommendations in this thread.
