ok this game is growing on me... i still dont think its gonna ever be a game to be played seriously and it also (for me) depends on who i use, ryo im not feeling but terry is cool as hell! i like the hell juggle/bounce/launch system and the cut off point system (not sure if its by hits/damage or what is intruiging.

the jumps, movement and combo systems all seem too loose for this game to b a high level comp game though...

Everyone using the regular dual shock controllers to play this or are you guys using arcade sticks? By the way, what's the release date in the US? This game is sounding better and better, considering it's 3D and all.

@Beelze, what's the deal with NeoWave? Still pretty popular, seen anything new or worth mentioning?

yeah its still popular.. could still be becoz its new though.. a couple of months will be the test. i like the gameplay thought the lightning fast speed coupled with the strong hop game which favours some characters can be frustrating to fight against i find.. just need to get my skillz up i suppose. havent seen anything new though.

Beezle, any idea how Maximum Impact is doing? The store I bought it at had two display copies out and tons of display boxes for everything else that was new. :/

the figures for first week sales come out in the famitsu 2 weeks after the game is released so we should know 2 weeks from yesterday how it did...

I'm using joysticks to play the game, though my one friend will only use an ASCII pad to play fighters on and he had no problems doing moves either.

Can't wait till my friends can get here, I've got some great ideas for some nasty combos with Maxima. :D

We're also going to test out of a lot of the more abusive combos (90%'s) I found are avoidable if the opponent can safe quickly enough. I'm not sure if this is going to be the case.

Could someone who owns the bonus DVD capture and post a picture of Falcoon from his interview? I've always wondered what he looked like.

I'm sorry I have no technology to do that. I'll describe him for you. He's a heavy set big guy with dyed blonde hair. He's very soft spoken, looks and sounds like a gamer/otaku dude.

SnairDogg- Using a Hori FT1 arcade stick, it works great. The crontol is incredible.

Beelzebubble- KOF neowave is getting tons of play. GODDAMN chris and his rush combos. Driving me up the wall! I'm glad to hear that youre liking KOF MI, I agree I think it's not going to get competitive play because of the PS2 only release.

JHendrix- Wicked! I was hoping you could roll out of the combos, thanks for the info! I gotta try this 2 player!!!

Yes you can in fact safe fall out of the combos that use juggles after you've already hit the floor, so the Chae Lim and Rock Combos I listed above require that your opponent mess up their safe falls for all of it to connect.

I think I'll call the video "Basic Cheesy Combos -OR- Why you must learn to Safe Fall"

Duke is either rediculously easy or impossibly hard.

I beat him first try with K', Iori, and Mignon. Hell I even got a perfect with Mignon and I barely knew how to use her.

Get to him with Terry and it was like half an hour trying to beat him. He's got some insane tap combos and an always maxed power bar. He will do the 75% life super mutliple times in a row if you get too close. Really unless you've got great tap combos out the wazoo (Terry doesn't) you're going to want to play a fireball keepaway match.

Actually I think the way the tiers are going to go in this game are going to be decided on the tap combos. Some characters have great setups that play a high low game which make blocking hard considering how fast some of them can go. There are a few characters that seem to be able to deliver more damage off a basic combo into super than others, but so far with the VS. play I've had it seems to be pretty well balanced. We haven't found anything game breaking yet which is a good sign.

It definitely takes some adjustment from your standard KOF but the game is still a ton of fun.

So far, I'm really enjoying this game! Here's what I would say:

Graphics: 7

+ Does a great job of emulating the familier characters in 2-D, and keeps everything very smooth.

- The graphics aren't schocking, and while some BG's look great, most are only above-average.

Sound FX: 7

+ Almost everything feels powerful, and each hit SFX rewards your efforts!

- Some control over the balance between music/SFX/voice would be nice.

Music: 7

+ The score fuctions well, and a few tracks are actually rather nice.

- None of the tracks really stand out.

Gameplay/control: Depends;

Everything controls pretty accuratly, and everthing respond to the slightest touch. But:

If you like Heavy Dial-a-Combo juggle fests, give it an 8.

If you hate the above mentoned, you might as well give it a 3. Either you love it, or hate it. Personally, I find the Combo system a great deal of fun. Not super deep, but enjoyable nontheless.

Fun: 8

+ Fun to run in and give it a go! Very enjoyable.

- We'll see how I feel after 50 hours.

It is probably just the screencaptures.. It is definitely not more washed up than say, KOF2001 :p

Not Chae Lim eh? How'd you unlock more costumes for em? I already beat the game with Mingnon and got the Wings/Maid outfits for her. I'm guessing Mission Mode unlocks the extra special bikini?

Also the washed out colors are definitely from the screen shots, the game is insanely vibrant colorwise.
