wowaohaowowow, I heard that the PS2 could hold and run PS2 games but I didn't know it would work if the thing was unmodded.

HDL_DUMP 0.2a Readme by golf7

To start off with you need to place hdl_dump.exe and image.bin in the same folder and make it a folder that is close to the root of the disc.

EX: I have mine at D:/test/hdl_dump.exe

To run the program, DO NOT double click on the exe. You need to click
start, run, then type "cmd" (without the "") then hit enter.

THen navigate to the program file. Remember where you saved it. For me i would type:
(each line represents where i would hit enter at)

d:
cd test
hdl_dump

You should see something about hdl_dump 0.2a by wizard.
Also you should see:

Usage:
HDL_DUMP command arguments

Where command is one of:
query, dump, compare, toc,
map, delete*, zero*, cutout, info,
extract, inject_cd*, inject_dvd*

Use:
HDL_DUMP command
to show "command" help.

Ok now to the nitty gritty of installing games on your hdd.

to install games to your HDD, first hook up the hdd to your computer.
Then open up hdl_dump in command prompt and find out which disk is the one your looking for.

Do:

hdl_dump toc

and find the correct hdd that you want to install to.

next you need to execute this command.

THe inject_dvd comand.

Usage: inject_dvd device partition file signature

Creates a new HD Loader partition from a DVD.

Example:
HDL_DUMP inject_dvd hdd1: "Gran Turismo 3" c:\gt3.iso SCES_xxx.xx

so type :
hdl_dump inject_dvd [yourhddname] "[game name]" [location of iso] [SCES number]

p.s.
hdd name must be in:
hddX format
where X is a number.

SCES number can be found by browsing the iso and looking at the root of the folder for a file similer to this:
SLES_897.34

then it should create a new partition on your hdd with the game installed.

take out the hdd from the pc, and install in ps2, and enjoy your newly installed game with hdloader.

and it works great too. short of a few compatibility problems (some games won't load, others may have sound issues) but now i can start importing ps2 games.

I was messing around with the sound files from the ps2 version and did some converting and mixing, etc. They actually split the Left and Right channels in the game (so i had to put them back together). This is the first track i have done.

tell me what you think ( I learned all this crap today too)

Cool, sounds good - what did you use to rip the files from the disc as I have not tried doing anything like that yet? (at least not with PS2 titles anyway)

Im almost done with the soundtrack.

I use an app called MF Audio. The funny thing about SSV is that they (snkp) stripped the audio into both channels so there is a file for the LEFT and RIGHT for each track. (pain in the arse!) I rip out each one in mono then merge them with cool edit pro.

Yeah I can host a few I think... maybe not on the NGFL space, but I can put some on my personal webspace probably. I'll sort something out either way :). Let me know.

edit: here's that yoshitora music again but ripped properly this time with the program you mentioned (thanks for letting us know what you used, this might come in handy in the future ;)):

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/darren_reynolds/yoshitora.mp3

I merged both the left and right tracks but did it in mono - been a long time since I messed around with this stuff so I'll have another play with it later on. Btw, I can probably get away with hosting a few Samurai Zero MP3's on the NGFL webspace, but not all of them - if you rip a few of the best ones (or if I rip a few) I'll put up a page so people can grab them to get an idea of what they are like :)

Only Problem I have with the PS2 version is the Sound FX: They're way to muffled, and the FX/Music/Voice balance isn't as nice as the AES version. I actually found SVC and KOF 2K2 to be incredible ports, so I was a bit dissapointed with SSZ. Oh well.

I can't wait for this game to come out in the US. I have seen the Japanese version on sale at Otakon but they were sold out of it :crying: I want to get that game. Hopefully when the US version is out I will get it.

Konami did that with Gradius 5's soundtrack too.

Uh, you're very screwed. I would never trust buyrite. Ever. If you want real service, you should've gone to japangamesnow.com. They're way much better.

Did you ever get your game? I fucking bought it off their site on 9/15.. still no game. Those bastards are the worst ever! They've given me two different shipping dates (both overdue!) and keep giving me the run-around. I live 4 hours away from them.. I could've walked there and back by now. Cawk smokers! :blow_top:

I just finished contacting my bank to charge back that order. Never ordering from there again.
