They probably did it so they can smile at Microsoft and Sony and say "Look! You guys will get the exclusive VIOLENT version of SSVS!! Us screwing over the Neo Geo fans is our way of spreading our butt-cheeks for your gianormous black-jizzm-filled souless corporate cocks!!!!"

All I know is that I will never be buying any version of SSVS unless they correct the AES version... otherwise, I'm not supporting the fuckers.

Well, I disagree. Alot of cade goers buy these, in fact they show the most support. They just arent registered at ng for the drama, because they dont care and just play the games.
I go to cades alot to play some of the insane 2003 talent LA has going, nobody here who hasnt done that can even say they know the true glory of neo. Cause when you do you make new friends who are gamers and can play very well.. Trust me on this bro, the real heart of the neo is playing people who are insane players..

IE

Its so funny to hear some dude here who claims to be a god at gaming make such claims when they never really played others.
I find it ironic, its the dudes who own nothing that are some of the best, and these guys get my pure respect.

Well, there are at least 2 factions of neo fans - the arcade-goer, the competitive bunch that you are referring to, and they of course derive their own form of enjoyment from the system and its games.

There is, however, also another bunch of fans who enjoy the system in their home, away from the competitive nature of the arcade - do these people not 'know the true glory of neo'?

My point is, there are at least 2 ways to enjoy the 'glory of the Neo' and some of us may never get good enough to compete at the arcade, in fact. These same people show support for the system in other ways than you and your friends.

Or 4 people that voted in spite of the majority because they thought it was funny. :blow_top: I wonder if you can find out exactly who voted how.
For the record, I voted for the third decision (the majority decision)- if you're promised something, you'd better fucking get what you were promised, right? No beating around the bushes here. :very_ang:

Heh, yeah I thought about making it a public poll, but then I thought that might cause people to feel pressured to vote a certain way.

Anyway, I'm with you. I say we demand that a mod give their names out, and then fly to their houses and tar & feather their asses.

You mean like a lynch mob? Heh, heh...I envision a whole group of people outside Playmore's corporate offices with pitchforks and torches. I wonder what the Japanese media would make of that? :tickled:

let's try for 6.

why wouldn't playmore be well within their rights to edit their own property? they own the samurai shodown name and games, they are responsible for releasing the home port, so they can do whatever the hell they want to it. and they have every right to do so.

the incident which prompted this was quite atrocious, and i perfectly understand snk playmore's decision. if yuki doesn't share playmore's morals, that's their issue.

i oppose censorship in any way, shape or form, but this case is not one of censorship, but tasteful self restraint.

that being said, what the fuck is this mortal kombat bullshit!? this is retarded, i'm gald they took this silly shit out. and i hope they keep it out of future home ports.

I generally agree that a company has a right to edit their own property. However, they do not have the right to sell said property under the pretense that it will include certain features which they will then proceed to strip out just before release.

The problem that I have is that the violence in SSVS is just so minimal and insignificant when compared to what else is out there. It's like someone outlawing Coca-Cola and leaving alcohol legal. It just doesn't make sense.

:spock: .... c'mon man, give me a break. Lying to fans who have supported your company through thick and thin is hardly what i'd call tasteful. Censoring a cartoon-style game for a bored, whiny mom is just plain stupid.

They won't - they'll do whatever they can to make the extra buck. They'll put child porn on it if they think it will sell. The only reason they f*cked over the home cart users is because we represent a small, dying segment of the market.

as i said, editing their game was playmore's choice. if nobody else felt the need, that's their call. playmore felt that this was the right thing to do at the time, so they did it. as their most recent press release states, they weren't expecting the backlash they received.

and just for personal clarification, how is this any different than the changes made to the samurai shodown's of the past? other then the fact that the changes cannot be undone by changing the language to japanese?

These changes are different because they were also implemented on the Japanese fanbase, which is really the only reason Playmore cares about the backlash in the first place. Also, it seems likely that these changes directly caused a number of the bugs plaguing this game, so that's different. I don't care about the fatalities, but adding bugs is no good.

Quoting Steve's World Heroes review (quoting GamePro's Doctor Dave in 1992): "That's a fighting game no-no!"

You simply can't advertise a product like its a car with four wheels, and then secretly decide to release it with only three. Its bad business, and it rightly pisses off the customers.

This wasn't justified, and it was horribly wrong. SNK and SNKP have gotten away with censorship in the past, but this just crosses the line. If they're smart, they'll recall every cart worldwide, fix it so the game is complete, and then resend it to their customers. Sure, it'll cost them some money, but that's their fault, not ours.

While I hope they'll be included in the ports, it just sucks that a group of people, particularly those who are paying upwards of 5-6 times what the ports will cost, will get an incomplete product. Not only does it unjustly fuel the fire for port haters, but it alienates the customer base that made them what they are. Everyone deserves a complete game, regardless of platform.

It doesn't sounds strange to me that they locked the fatalities. You wouldn't have been surprised if they censored in the US territory a game where you could see planes crashing after 9.11 so why it sounds suddenly strange that Playmore censored the fatalities after what happens recently in Japan.

enough said I think.

1. I'd have to say that stabbings are quite a bit more frequent and common than massive terrorist attacks. :p

2. Besides, samurai fights to the death are a part of Japanese culture to begin with. You don't see people in the US having a shit fit when a Confederate soldier in a civil war game kills a Union soldier, now do you?

3. No one is forcing anyone to play the game.

4. ITS FAKE GOD DAMNIT!!!

after reading the back of the box insert, which clearly mentions the "overkill moves" i can see your point about being missled.

but the fact still remains, that this was a response to a troubling event for the japanese. maybe not on the scale of 9/11, but certainly in the same legue as columbine. i can understand the japanese response, and on a personal note, i myself don't want to see shit like this.

Well, firstly, this happened 7 years ago. And yet, somehow Metal Slug's 2-5 still managed to maintain rather gruesome cartoonish violence, as did Samurai Shodown: Asura Zanmaden did on the HNG64.

Well, I understand that they probably had good intentions, and I even admire them a little for that. However, their contribution toward "protecting" the youth amounts little more than a big fat pimp-slap in the face of their fans - most of whom are in their early to late twenties. Meanwhile the youngsters are hackin' and slicin' themselves silly at their local arcade. Misdirected morality is what this is.

Perhaps they felt more inclined to censor this title because of the anime-anime violence. I think the Japanese take their anime seriously...almost realistically. They get off on anime porn.
Also this is the first time since SS2 that Nakoruru and Rimururu can get cut in 2. I wonder why they couldn't die in SS3 or 4 and obviously 5? They're too precioius? or too young?

They're too young to get cut, but definitely not too young to be sold to 65 yr. old Japanese businessmen. Oh, and their panties can be sold in vending machines - of course that's perfectly healthy. :oh_no:

Oh, and jacking off to anime porn = WTF??!?!?? :oh_no:
