If playing a hacked KOF 99 (alowing you to be Krizalid). If your are the 2nd form of Kriz fighting the first form both costumes will be purple, but when you fight his 2nd form his coat will "Magically" change to red and so will his suit.

    Jamiet:
Quick one on the whole Bison, Tyson thing, the Tyson rat bite on Holyfield was '97, I don't know of one from '90, but it may have happened. I am pretty sure though that the big Tyson problem at the time was his rape case and subsequent imprisonment.

(Although this could have just been a Capcom media stunt to increase the games awareness in good old blighty by making it a bit "controversial") wink
I do agree this is the reason why Capcom made the name changes. But I'm wondering... why the hell couldn't they just invent another name? Or only swap the names of 2 characters instead of 3?

Here's my thing some of you may not know...

In the action Hong Kong movie "Full Time Killer", when the 2 main characters decide to fight each other to death in a duel, one of them asks the other if he has played Metal Slug. He says yes, and then they go to a warehouse that has all the weapons hidden "just like in the game". Then they just shoot the hell out of each other. In any case that scene reminded me more of Metal Gear than Metal Slug, so I always wondered if they were actually wanting to reference Metal Gear but screwed up and said Metal Slug, that is another quite popular videogame with a similar name.

This might be kind of old news...but you can get Kim Kaphwan to do a fly-by in two stages of Fatal Fury Special as long as you aren't using him. In Big Bear's stage if a round ends and both digits of the time are the same(55, 44, 33, etc.) then Kim will zip by in the background doing the whole Superman thing. He will also show up in Terry's stage in the 4th round right before time runs out. He flies by, stops to look at who's fighting, then fly off again. It's really funny looking if you've never seen it before.

    One kewl thread in here

Kernow, Forever did remmeber right. If you have a schematic to any Neo geo system, it will have Alpha Denshi on it, along with their head wildman, Eiji Fukatsu. The system he actually did as a full board previously, first starting with a game called Battlefield (renamed to Time Soldiers). Romstar had the board redone also as Sky Soldiers and Gold Medalist. Sky Adventure also used the same system.

As a general rule, graphic systems of the time used a background graphics, text and sprite graphics. Eiji instead used the sprites as tiles for the background, making programming and circuit design a tad simpler.

The US president Marty was also an accomplished musician, magician and movie actor. Kept that to himself, though. Amazing talents.

John Barone ended up marrying Susan Jarocki, who's dad Stan Jarocki ran this company called Bally-Midway. Games ran in that family, I guess.

The tech department was an absolute blast. Between big band music, Rush Limbaugh, death metal and some absolutely wierd music, it was noisy and fun. For the entire US branch, though as Chad mentions, us being a broken arm, we did the best we could and had a lot of fun doing it.

One competition which was a full tradition was a daily tech depamrtment competition of Thrash rally set up in 4 cabinets. I had my own cabinet modified with a steering wheel (showed at a trade show but no interest) which helped out immensely. The competition was quite insane and we all had a real good time.

Romstar had been tied in with SNK back and forth, from being originally SNK USA to employees trading back and forth. At least 5 employees of Romstar (including yours truly) ended up at SNK at various times.

Late night shipping runs included major pizza party action. We all worked like bulldogs and got the product out the door. When shipping time came round, RUSH was the order of the day.

The Samurai Shodown trade advertisement with several people worshipping a cabinet with the "we're not worthy" included Game Lord, his sidekick George, some of the warehouse crew and the two sons of our graphics artist.

The funniest program bomb I ever ran across personally was from a curious invention I was doing, to make a Neo Geo into a redemption game, giving out tickets. It had some good interest at the show and it earned like mad at the local test arcade. Then one morning, a bit of forgotten programming showed itself when the ticket photocell got dirty and gave out over 7,000 tickets. Whoops! (the program rewrite didnt finish as that is when the closure announcement came in).

Neo Geo is actually LATIN for "New World".
Fallen Player Remembrance: Known by all as an ex SNK and Romstar employee, Antonio "Nightmare Tony" Gonzalez was always helpful to other people, upbeat in chatting with people, and was a source of truth.

Actually it's not Latin, it's Greek. In Latin, it would read "Nova Terra".

Well whatever, it is also the title of the 1991 album by Ryuichi Sakamoto, cohort of new wave/romantic (bleh) band JAPAN, and duetted with the lead singer of said band DAVID SYLVIAN on the theme "Forbidden Colours" to the movie "Merry Xmas mr. Lawrence" , whixh starred David Bowie.

    Here is a snipet of the title track <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/clipserve/B0000026E0001002/1/002-6504817-0864832" target="_blank">Neo Geo</a>

Metal Slug will allow you to enter your initials as "SEX", metal slug X and Metal Slug 3 will not allow this, changing it to "SNK".

Did you know that the original Genesis/MegaDrive model, came with AV Cables, that is compatible with any Neo Geo System, as well as the Master System's AV Cables?
Although they are pin for pin compatable, the Neo Geo uses offset 8 Pin Din whilst the Megadrive / Genesis/Master System use 8 Pin Din.

I ran into a glitch in Nam-1975 where the soldier turns into a hand grenade while fighting the level 2 boss.

If anyone knows how to duplicate this, please post it!

I don't know if this was already mentioned but the team that made Metal Slug made In The Hunt (submarine shmup) before joining SNK.

And I wanna ask one thing, In Geo is the G pronounced as in "good" or as in "girl" (the greek pronounciation, please)?

the same gos for turbo duo a/v cables you can use them on the genesis neo geo the only thing is that you have to take out the red cable or you will get a humming sound

I work at a CompUSA, and those games are still in our system (despite the particular location I work at having only existed since 1998) having been long long dropped from the active product list. Super Baseball 2020, Alpha Mission 2, and Magician Lord are all currently priced at $139.88 with a cost of $117.xx. There are other Neo games, but I only remember those three specific titles.

If you put more than one of the same cart in a multislot it will only boot the first one.

    Simpleton one, but anyway:
In Real Bout, if you take off the last bit of life from someone using Yamazaki with the knife slash (f, db, f+A/C) you will knock your opponent off the side of the stage, towards the screen, they will dissappear.

Wow, posted 8th June 2003.. and there's still stuff to discover on the Neo. *Off to check it out*

Last Blade 2 has the character icons of the 4 hidden characters for the character select screen. And it's not a S1 layer hack, it's natively present in the untouched C roms.
