I just remembered a little while ago I actually have another Saturn copy on the way. I can hardly wait. And what's up with those two in your signature? Only Tinker & Linker are the dominant pair! :p

This reminds me of something else I wanted to ask. Are both Macky & Pentell's names puns? Pentell I'm sure was named after the Japanese Pentel company, maker of all those everyday and artist-quality writing instruments, but Macky? You know how the Japanese love to make name puns out of their characters.

The Nanja Monja onion group has good stats but I suck with them, I don't know why. I mean I'm not even sure I can make it to Mevious with them! yet I can do MUCH better with a weaker-ranking character. Go figure.

I still can't figure out the 1-point thing... I think it happens on this one enemy pattern that you have to wipe out in a certain way. It adds the 1 point first before the combo bonus. I'll have to ask the record holder at MARP next time I see him....

I hate to break it to you, but AYB references aren't funny any more... and haven't been for the last couple years

But what else could I use? It's an Engrish game and AYB is Engrish so...

Fine, I'll try to look for something else. And I'll fix the x-box too...

hehe, yeah. better to highlight a bit of lesser-known Engrish than one that a lot of people are sick of hearing about.

Oh, and the pic is nice. :)

Wish I had a screen shot to show. Anyway, I got the 42-hit Chain a long time ago (final stage) so I've long since forgotten if "Max Chain" came up on screen or not.

......I just took a quick flip through the Gamest Mook & could not find anything in there either.

My mistake. I got a Max Special.... and the same 42 hits. I also did this against Memory, only I stopped to take a snapshot, which buggered up my chain in the end.
http://www.geocities.com/neobomberman/stuff/ check the only bitmap there when Geocities turns my site back on.

So, how is a Max Special achieved/accomplished?

Actually, it just says Max. The Special part is on the points, so it's really "Max hits, Special pts" instead of the normal "(number) hits, (number) pts".

And the display turns to Max after 32 hits.

It's awfully hard to maintain a chain. You can only hope that the next formation gets blown up by the current explosions and that the opponent's attack chars keep coming and coming and getting reflected back. A skilled (or, in CPU Memory's case, cheap) opponent is also helpful.

Okay, thanks a lot. I know it's not easy, and in some ways I wish I had not stopped to take that pic, but anyway it was worth it I guess.

Hey guys. I have an AES version of this, obviously converted, and I love it. I'm wondering, should I sell it and just go with the Saturn version? Are there any differences? I bought it originally just for selling but I have grown addicted to it and the price I'm getting now is only a few dollars more than I paid for it in the first place, so I wouldn't actually make any profit really.

BTW I got a 50 combo thing, is that the max? The display said MAX so I thought that was the limit. The way I know it was 50 hits was that it said so on the high score list.

Like I said before, the count turns to Max after going past 32 hits. However, the hits will keep increasing provided the hits keep coming.

And I've heard that the Saturn version has a lot of extra stuff. Unfortunately, I don't know anything else past that.

Never!
The NEO GEO version of TSS is the BEST.
Why? It is the original version, don't be fooled by extra features in saturn or dc version of the game.

Play the original!

That's the beauty my friend!

It has two different games included!

The original Neo Geo MVS version, and the Sega Saturn home version!

The only difference is the controller!

This Saturn version is amazing, but it was a holdover since I could not find a homecart in my price range.

But....

Now that MVS is my domain, Neo TSS can be mine!

This I agree with. It was just plain weird playing it on the Saturn, and I don't like load times at all, so MVS/NGH all the way!

One other big point I found worth considering is this: The NEO·GEO controller is one of the very best ever for shooters/action shooting games (SNK's old specialty) so you have the best controller right there. Having to use a joypad for a shooting game is..... well, annoying I find. I like being able to rapid fire that button with my finger, while being able to leave the joystick sitting on my lap; impossible with a joypad.

Look, I love the Neo-Geo but I'm just asking if anyone knows for sure the differences in the actual game itself. Like, slowdown issues, added things, etc.

Well, for one thing the Saturn version has load times (not long though). It also has an anime intro, and a "Saturn version" or something in addition to the original NG way of playing the game. Quite what that is, I don't know, since I think I only played the NG version for the short time that I had the game.

In the character dialogue between rounds, voiceovers have been added.

There's also one new character in the Saturn version.

BTW, how do you change the difficulty? I want to play at Level 8 so that my opponents don't die so easily when I'm trying to make big chains.
