I for one am very impressed with this conversion. Ray does great work and will receive more business from me in the future.

Dodge Ball is a great game. Some may argue that the price for a game like this is steep, but if you are a long time dodgeball fan, especially as far back as the NES days, you will enjoy this game. Technos + dodgeball + Neo Geo = Perfection. You can't go wrong. This game decimates the GBA version.

Best money I've spent on a game in a long time.

What do the rest of you think who bought into !Arcade!s conversion?

Dude I have to play that game. It's probably the only copy in the state. I don't know if you read the post I put up last Friday before the boards were hacked, but it went something like this:

I was going to order Super Dodgeball but then tradgedy struck. I was enjoying my new cars speed.......92mph.........in a 45mph zone. So I got pulled over and slpaed with all sortsa' fines. Bye Bye Super Dodgeball, at least for a month.

So anyway, I should be able to order it in 2 weeks. I can't wait. You should give me a call in the mean time. I don't think I can wait 2 weeks plus the time it takes to ship to play that game. I'll send you a PM with my number.

Till then enjoy the game.

I`m thinking about ordering it - if only I knew if it was any good ... say unlike Ganryu. Can you give a short review of the game or point me to a honest one? Can you compare it to e.g. Windjammers which I adore somehow? And about the conversion itself - how many pages does the manual consist of? Any cool stuff in there? The Ganryu one was a little hmm short and uninspired imo.

Thx.

Whoa d00d! I think you watched a little too much fast & furious there.. Slow down and play some Tokyo Extreme Racer for your speed fix ! :D It's tough for me to get off of work.. My schedule is pretty unforgiving this month. Friday's are ok tho.

Here is a review at Kazuya's site.

Garg's temple used to have another review up, but I 404'd on his site.

Too bad ForeverSublime isn't around. He's a bona-fide DodgeBall fiend.

I will try to write up a review for our site in a day or two.

As far as the manual goes for it, it's in full color, and is about 11 pages long. It details controls and moves (which are pretty much the same for all characters).

wjw - Ray emailed me before it came and told me he sent them out according to when they were ordered. Living closer to Canada (MN) helps expedite shipping, too...

I got mine a couple days ago but I have mixed feelings. While I realize that it's not !Arcade!'s fault that customs slashes open the case  to check the contents and the plastic tray gets cracked during transit, but the old style case mine came in, the plastic covering the insert area is cut funny! If you spread open an old style case, the plastic doesn't run near the top evenly, it dips down like it was cut out in a concave pattern!! Other than the crappy case deal, everything is great.

I just wanted to follow up and say that Ray is taking care of me in this situation. Customer service is top-notch and the product is most excellent. !Arcade! has a guaranteed customer for every release they put out! :)

Man, what is this. 400$ for a conversion??? Lunacy. It's all about the MVS. How many MVS carts are going to be destroyed to make these conversions anywho? They are already limited in quantity (I already have mine... but hey...). Dodgeball is a great game, but I think 400 bucks for a conversion is a bit steep. I do suppose it's better than the 800$ NGF was charging.

they probably didn't buy the original carts, hell i wish they'd bootleg it for you guys, at this point no one is going to get hurt by it (well except the collectors...). If they bootlegged it you could probably get it for around 150-200. Hell Cosmico sells the bootleg for $58.

Peace

The man steps in.. How you doing? It's too bad MasterKunio isn't around.. We could all getogether for a dodgeball tourney.. :D

I couldn't resist. The original MVS copy would be grand.. But try to track it down..

Besides, with that awesome box art, it was just too tempting..

$400 too steep?! We're talking Dodge Ball here man! The MVS cart with no insert or case still clocks in around $300..

What's the meg count of Dodge Ball anyway? 146 or 190? There are differing opinions..

I didn't take into account that you would get a box and art... I'm kinda pissed at myself for not getting a complete MVS kit. You're right though... even as cart only, it still costs a pretty penny.

What does all of the art that comes with the conversion look like?

I'm ready for that dodgeball tourny when you are!!!

That's the spirit.

Take a look at the master list for pix.

Who's your fave team combo?

I'm still experimenting, but I would have to say Kunio (angled super throw, hurricane kick throw), Sabu the Yakuza man (QCF + T pistol super keeps you at a safe catch distance), and Kenji or Miyuki (Pink haired chic.. her supers are strong).

To be quite honest, I can't remember... it's been a while since I've played it (Hell, it's been a while since I've been home). I don't own an arcade system, so I don't play it often. Whenever I visit chainsawyak though, I try to bring it along so we can play. I think you are right though, kunio had the coolest team super. His throws were easiest to block though.

Gosh, I can't wait to play it!!!!!

Note to chainsawyak... I'm coming over!

Anybody have any idea what SDB is worth today? Holy shit - I can't believe I've had it since 2002.

What did you pay for it back then? Just curious.

They don't come around too often so it's hard to tell in today's market. There is one currently listed on Ebay that will be ending in a few days. It is a little beat up with serials removed though so that will go for less than normal. Here's a link:

Honestly, it's the only one I've seen go on sale. This wasn't an extremely rare game, was it?

I've seen some pop up since I got my cabinet in May. This is one of those cases where despite having it on that multicart I own, I'd buy it. Super Dodgeball was and is my thing. I could school anyone at the old arcade title and NES game too back then, loved the ROM when I could play the JP PCE card too. I liked this when I'd rarely find it in a NG cabinet and now that I own one resistance is futile. :)

This thread is about the !Arcade! AES release; not the MVS cart.
