KOF... REFLECTIONOF PEOPLE'S PERSONALITY

GOOD MORNING PEOPLE.

I have always noticed that the manner in which people play KOF reflects a person's personality.
Let me prove this theory to you.

1. There is a guy, who only picks his four main guys, whatever the excuse is, to not play me four random back, means either he can't beat me, or that he likes to do the same thing over and over, and must enjoy it, since he doesn't want to expand his horizons. If he didn't enjoy it, he obviously wouldn't play right, or if he's there because of the other people, that must mean he has closed himself off from the real world. Am I not right?
case no 2. We have the typical unethical player, who does anything to win, even though I am just playing for fun, because the concept of the game is to have fun correct. Now why do these people have to play like this, are they that content on making the game not fun for others, to watch and play. These kind of people are selfish, inside and out. They are not competitive they are cut-throat. I believe I am competitive because I would never resort to such an insolent style to get what I want. And if I can't get, I make a joke about it, the I just laugh and make more jokes about it, but yet remain in a conservative area.
Case no. 3 The type that think they know everything about the game. I only know what I know because I tried what I know usually by mistake, or by making a logical thoery first. There are people out there who piss me off because they don't understand why I do something, they only see it for face value. For example, wasting a super to counter when Mary does her slide, the dummies say it's a waste of one super, but if you watch and take notice that King's cd with float over Mary's slide after you Counter the move, the cd will waste one super bar, yes but you can execute the qcf a or c move then call a striker, into a nice combo, the cd doesn't hit Mary, leaving her open in that slide frame. The same goes the other way, when I do the slide with mary people who play King try to copy, but don't realize that Mary can recover if the opponent is to slow in his actions and do a death move of her own. Anyway, people who only see it as it is, usually cannot devise any kind of strategy of any kind in real life, whether it be a plan for school, or a stock portfolio. These type of people usually tell people what to do, without having the experience to merit anything they say.
Lastly, case no. 4.... Those who can't change their beliefs. Some KoF players think they can execute a combo which they believe will work, but really doesn't due to the realistic conditions of the game. Once in a while they do get something they what they want, but the risks of doing what they did, do not weigh equally to whatever was accomplished. Therefore, in their real life outside of KoF they must be people who take unneccasry risks which reap very little, or not take risks because they become discouraged in the end.
i apologize for the long post but it was something that I felt had to be said.

I would like to thank all of you for your time to respond even, though I did not expect to get this wide variety of feedback.
I am upset at those people, who contradict themselves, you see the ones who set a double standard for themselves. You know type the who thinks if I do it, it's fine, but if someone does that to me, it's not.
Where I play, we all agree on a code of honor, that even if anyone loses we will not take any shortcuts to gain the upperhand, every match is technical. When someone doesn't adhere to the rule which they've agreed upon, everyone goes out and makes it hard on him. Sort of like the U.N. can impose sanctions on nations who stray from the rules.
I tend to think, and have asked a majority of the KoF players where we play, that we are here to have fun, not to blowout the other guy and waste his money. Except for those whose sole purpose is to do so.Those are the people who get the most upset whether they win or lose.I think they get mad, because I beat them with their team, with their techniques.Or with random. I really can't see myself picking a team, because I don't want to rely on being the player I am, for what guys I can stake a claim at being good at, but rather as being a technical player, who can create oppotunities for myself, no matter what kind of situation I'm dealt.
I almost always ask my opponent if he wants a fair match if he is losing. But I never ask for chance, I'd rather save time and let him kill me. I don't give fair matches because I think I'm better than anyone in this or that particular, It's because I believe I'm competitve, and not a cut throat, who would do anything just to stay on the game, I don't care, I even give my opponents their money back, from my own money if I feel that, this particular match was really good, and cannot convince him to spend his or her own money to play me again.
I feel that if I'm going to be at the arcade, I might as well, get most of the money I am going to spend there. If that means sponsoring good players or even rivals , to play against each other, so be it.
It is not a requirement for me to play and have fun.

Good points Shin Hidoshi; but sadly I have to say that around this parts the mentality of the KOF players is what you described as "cut-throat". They are experts on pulling the most insidious and coward tactics using, what my friends call, "The Fool-Proof Characters" (Kyo, Iori, K', Benimaru, Ryo, Takuma, etc), just for the sake of winning, never for competition or fair play. Perhaps I'm the only player that follow some sort of "ethic code" (no infinites, Seth/Joe banned from my teams) and by doing so I've been defeated very badly many times. Sometimes it makes me kind of bitter, but guess what? When I beat all those infinite/striker abusers using just my good old team (Clark, Whip, Leona, Striker Yashiro), the look on their faces is worth one thousand lost challenges, and for me, that is where the fun is...

Good evening to you all.

Yes, that is why a great technician always beats a great cheater over time. I know when I challenge a good skilled player, and usually if I go way ahead in the match, I usually make it Five Round contest, though I really don't expect them to.
I cannot believe what someone is willing to stoop to, just to stay on the game. I mean if losing your money, is that important why spend it the first place. Because the risk of losing money would relate to not having fun. Therefore, people sacrifice the fun of the game so they can preserve the game, which in turn is not fun if they lose.Right?
I don't care about the money. I worry about the money in my investments. I try to finance people to play,if they are worth playing against, whether it's for fun, or to play a good game. The experience is well worth it.
Folks it's just a game, and it is way to enjoy ourselves, and relieve some of the daily stress we accumulate, but please don't take it out on other people.

Thanks for telling me to take a look at this post. Granted, I've been probably each of those players before. Seeing that you've managed to categorize a majority of the common players around at our arcade kinda shows you how deep this game really has been.

It's also helped me realize that I wasn't cut out to be at the arcade. I know that you particularly made that example about losing in reference to me. I do enjoy games only with certain people and not with a general competition because there's only some people I truly ever have fun against. These people are people I deemed "honorable" in my book.

Too bad there's some people who play with that damn cut-throat mentality coupled with the unwillingness to try other characters. You and I both know who we're talking about.

Thank you for your post Iie-Kyo. Yeah I know who you are. You are good too, but I don't know if you can beat me, but that is not the point as to why I play against you sometime. I gotta have fun, you have beaten me on occasion, sometimes like a massacre, but I sarcastically talk some bubbles, and just laugh about it. But when you beat me, you beat me, there is a way to play the game , still be competitve, maintain a level of challenge, and have fun.I think we have that going on, when we challenge, and now, that is why I can shake your hand if you kick my posterior.

Shout out to Godiva Land!

I'm pretty sure that I'm not one of those case files because you didn't mention 110% offense, -100% Defence, hehhehheh <IMG SRC="smilies/tickled.gif" border="0"> .
Anyways, this is why fighting games have this diversity, because some people are more comfrotable with a different style compared to someone else. If all we had was Ryu and Ken, or even worse, just Ryu, the game would have lost interest a long time ago and we'd all be stuck playing Striker 1945 (good game mind you) and Bust-A-Move. <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0">

I have started to play more and more random. Shin-Hidoshi's post is indeed true about everyone that I know that play here in the KOF BS central of the Pacific (hence how Iie-Kyo aptly puts it.) Our styles of KOF are very different. Iie-Kyo, Shin-James, and myself... We play very differently and we have each been in the three cases stated. Becoming better at the game isn't how good you can use one team and win consistently (by doing whatever it takes *infinites*)... that becomes no fun and others will despise you for it. Therefore playing random allows the chance of improvement by adaptation to your team. Learning new helper based combos can influence your skill to a new level of expertise.

That's why, Leviathan, you are just as good as I am. I just wanted to hear you say that. Cause you know, you used to do that stuff. And when I tried ot do the joe stuff, I couldn't right, Ha Ha, cause I'm super sucks, but anyway, It isn't in me to to do those techniques to advance. Are you two guys gonna challenge me or what? I will let you pick your teams, and I will give you the opportunity to pick mine, and what order you would like me to use them in, and which striker. I am not trying to show you guys up, I just like the challenge of playing good players, and adding as much fun and challenge to the game as possible.
Hey, if you guys beat me, I go to Jacks and buy you a Grilled Rooster, I mean chicken club sandwhich.
