Saying that you don't sell to "collectors" because a package was sent without an outer box, is just a poor excuse for laziness. Even shit that gets sent to retail stores has outer boxes to protect the stuff.

DKE, yeah my stuff came like that. Only I got three kits all taped together with a packing label and stamps slapped on them. It was the most horrible mess you ever did see :( . I'm suprised the boxes weren't in worse shape than they were since it came from overseas.

Andy, my bad. I must have confused you for someone else. My apologies.

I'm working myself into a frenzy. You can't imagine how pissed I am about all of this. Especially since I paid a lot to have him rectify the original situation. This second package was supposed to fix all of that and this is what I get :( .

I have purchased the Hyper64 kit with 3 games from Jeff and they all arrived in mint condition inside a large Hyper64 box - I have no complaints with Jeff at all. I also purchased the Neo Geo 6 slot cabinet from them and it arrived a day earlier than promised and in great shape.

Well, this just shows that he could do a good job if he wanted to.

Yeah, I never had any problems with him, either. My 6-slot arrived safe and sound and I'm happy as larry with it. It was dealyed a couple of times, but he was kind enough to ring me up and explain, which to my eyes is good customer service. I bought a few more items from him after that, and he didn't let me down.

But then, I can only go from personal experience. It's a pity that so many have had such a duff time dealing with Jeff :(

Like I said, looks like he just got tired of the Neo-Geo.com crowd:

http://groups.google.com/groups?hl =en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&selm=20020818050444.22180.00001596%40mb-mv.aol.com

Looks like he is still selling to me...

Huh...a bit cheeky of him, really! I thought the whole situation stank; why would he give up on all those customers? Oh well, I'm sure quite a lot of people here will be more than happy not to have any further dealings with him.

Yeah, there's no doubt that he can do some good business when he tries. It seems that often he just doesn't care enough to put the effort forth though. There's too many unhappy customers to deny that.

And when things do go wrong he does not seem willing to correct them. He just ignores the complaints and doesn't return e-mails. He's in the same league as Buy-Rite IMO.

I'll never do business with him again, and I'm thinking that many will follow suit. Live and learn I guess.

I didn't expect to do business with him again, but Sam64 for $50 was too good to be true.

You know what he charges for new carts. $90+shipping.

following the completion of supply of the japanese versions of SS64 there was one unhappy customer who was highly upset that his HNG boxes were taped together, thus destroying the 100% quality of the boxes - I understand the situation for collectors, but we are a trade business, not a collector supplier - that's what pays the bills.

Consequently it is with great regret that I have to draw the line on future private sales and call it a day - with such little time to allocate to private sales as it is - it is clear that there will be further situations such as this that could arise in the future. I think it was a paypal sale, and the possibility of account suspension is not worth the hassle of a few hundred bucks - sorry

I know that there will be posts - so here is the original letter and reply -

I think that's a pretty accurate summary of the last three pages! :D

Btw: I still don't have any reply from Jeff. No eMail, no SS64jp. and the long promised boxes also haven't arrived! Man, this sucks!

Thanks for you input. It's most appreciated. It really bothers me when people are nice and sensitive.

I'm happy that condition is not an issue for you. Vektorlogic is an excellent company for you then.

I'm sure you don't care about the condition of anything you own, so you probably wouldn't understand. That said, this is probably an issue that you should stay out of since you can't relate.

You probably also didn't realize that people have different opinions or care about different things. Else your post wouldn't have made you come off like an asshole.

If I recieved a kit with tape and stickers all over it I wouldn't give two shits either...I buy the games to play them, not to store them away on a shelf and look pretty. But, you know, that's what collectors want - mint boxes. Most arcade vendors will just rip the box open and slot the cart in the machine...they care more about the sales than the re-sale value. So, seeing things from Jeff's point of view for a second, all that he did wrong (initially) was assume that all his customers want the same thing. Of course, there's very little excuse for what happens next...

come on - don't back up Jeff because he lives in the UK now. Use a little reason.

Who buys hyper neo geo games?

Arcade ops?

puh-lease.

Jeff is just making up an excuse to be irresponsible.

Who ever mentioned the UK?

And all I was saying is that maybe Jeff packs games for his usual customers - he sells more than Hyper 64s you understand - and that maybe, just maybe, he didn't pack those games badly because he was lazy, irresponsible, mean or whatever.

His complete lack of sympathy, understanding and customer service, however, IS lazy etc. etc. etc.

Just saying.

come on, the guy paid extra to have his boxes in mint condition, if he paid for mint boxes, HE SHOULD, FUCKIN' GET THEM!!! you 'get' what you pay for!!!

the excuses given by jeff are pathetic. even if i send a £10 neo geo pocket game, i'll send it in a box to make sure the buyer gets it ok. i'd eant the same for me.

i mean, when you buy KOF2k or any other game from NCSX, they send a little jewer case well packed in a large cardboard box- it gets to you in mint condition.

now tell me why vectorlogic should be any different?

especially when dealing in expensive and rare arcade boards.

The difference is that you're sensible enough to know that you'll be dealing with collectors, and package your stuff as such. Like I said, he made a mistake...

The major difference, that's clear as black and white, is that Jeff is selling the hyper neo geo - a virtually worthless piece of hardware in the arcade market right now. He knows that only collectors and gamers are buying these - not 5 year old children and half-wit arcade ops that will "rip right into the cardboard and toss it"

Anything collectible has value in completeness. I figure you know this, but are playing devil's advocate for Jeff's sake.

You don't get it. It's not just about cardboard. It's about customer service. It's about Vektorlogic's attitude. I asked him nicely (and so did many people on this board) for minty cardboard boxes and non-censored games. He ignored me for several weeks until many people on this board complained. Then he said that it would cost more to get it all fixed. I didn't mind too much, as long as everything got straightened out. He then ships everything so shittly that all the money I paid was for nothing.

He then goes into this thing about how he's not going to sell to us anymore and he doesn't answer any e-mails. What kind of business is that? He's acting like a spoiled child.

What about the people that ended up with broken items? Or how about getting censored crap versions of games? Even if I didn't care about the box, shipping like that internationally is just terrible. The packages get bounced around so much from overseas it's a wonder the thing still works.

That's moaning and groaning?

Now who's the asshole?

I don't know Jeff, I've never actually spoken to him personally (maybe one e-mail, I think) and I don't love the guy so much that I'd run to protect him. Heck, I've already said that there is no excuse for how he has handled the situation.

I mentioned before that Cosmicco is one of the best sources for arcade pcbs and neo MVS carts. Wire/shipping fees can add up but if you get together a group order you can split the costs among the group. :)
