I know somepeople say I'm anti-homebrew...I'm really not. I'm just anti-homebrew tools...they just encourage piracy.

Mousemaster, let be the first to congratulate you, Trey and Jeff.

Although Trey is perfectly capable of doing it himself...if you need help on the insert, manual or sticker I'll be happy to help.

Wait a sec. Judging by the sega logo, I'd say you have found some way to force a genesis rom to run on an emulator that runs on the neo hardware (sort of a genesis wrapper that speaks to the neo hardware). The neo has the same z-80 processor so you wouldn't even have to emulate an entire genesis system. There is a very big step between running an emulated genesis rom on the neo hardware and developing software that runs on its own. Good luck nevertheless.

Hey, you are always more than welcome to try your hand at making some insert/sticker combos and asking Trey to add them to his homebrew page with the other works that have been made over the past couple of years!

As far as piracy, at this point in the game, it really makes no difference anymore in my eyes. We have reached the same point as the Atari Jaguar almost it seems. Hopefully things will work the same as they have with the Jaguar, at least 7 quality releases since its death with more on the way!

Not really. If things work out, you could probably get !Arcade! to make you a cartridge of the game since they created PCBs that clone the SNK boards. The game code would just be burned into Eproms. But that is looking well into the future.

Nope! Thats all fresh code. The Genesis and the Neo, while very similar, operate very differently! The way each system utilizies the Z80 is different, and the way sound works is different. In the Genesis, the M68k can play sounds on the YM2612 sound chip, while in the Neo Geo, it seems that sounds is all controlled by the Z80, it sends signals to the YM2610.

While both systems use similar chipsets, the underlying architecture is vastly different.

that truely is a labor of love if
you have to backwards engineer the
    NEOGEO.
    good luck!
personally i d like to see
    a cool sidescroller on it..
    a cross between castlevania and...
    um castlevania <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
    heheh.
    anyways.
i always wondered what happened to
    vectorlogic and their kits...
they seemed to have so much promise and then
    they dropped from the scene...
    eh?
    sorry.. off topic.

it's interesting but I prefer the game developed for the neo geo and not the 'adapted games'

Hey, that looks promising, although I expected a "real" homebrewn native Neo game, not an adaption.

As a big Genesis fan I do believe that your ideas will work, and if all that will become reality, I'm with ya!

After a quick look thru my Genesis collection I would die for adaptions of

    - Castlevania Bloodlines/New Gener.
    - Gunstar Heroes
    - Sonic (any part)
    - Speed Ball II
    - Tatsujin
    - Mr. Heli
    - Streets of Rage 2+3
    - M.U.S.H.A
    - Alisia Dragoon
    - Shinobi (any part)
    - Landstalker
    .
    .
    .

But what about the legal issues of this project? Sega wouldn't be too happy about this, what do you think?

"Columns" was just used as a learning experience. The logic for this type of game is so simple to mimic. It was easier to do this style game rather than start something so complex that we'd just give up.

We're moving on to other games, which will be Neo originals. We've got a lot more to learn...

I guess you could classify this game as a "Prototype"? <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

    Question

Will this be made for Neo CD? You could just put the game online for people to download it and burn it to a disk.
We seem to have a compulsion these days to bury time capsules in order to give those people living in the next century or so some idea of what we are like. I have prepared one of my own. I have placed some rather large samples of dynamite, gunpowder, and nitroglycerin. My time capsule is set to go off in the year 3000. It will show them what we are really like. -Alfred Hitchcock
