How about a CD to AES convertor?

I was just thinking why don't they make a CD to AES convertor? If they made an MVS to AES convertor, then it couldn't be that hard to do it.

As far as I know the CD and AES systems have the exact same specs the only differnce being the CD drive and cart slots.

They could even make a CD to AES convertor with a removable PC CD-ROM drive so if the drive ever went bad you could easily replace it.

Prozerg, who are you trying to fool?

Everyone knows you can't close topics anywhere except the War Room.

That would be something. I love hearing all of the remixed sounds that the CD system outputs. I would love for them to make some sort of converter that would work with the AES System. Maybe throw in a 52X CD Rom??? That would solve a lot of problems

Yeah right just dream on.
It won't happen. Detachable CD rom? Yeah right. It's just not logical. Just my thoughts.

It wouldn't be easy to do because the difference is NOT only in the cart slots/cd drive. There has to be additional hardware in the cd system that knows how to control the cd drive. I haven't looked up the specs but it could also be very possible that the cd drive has more ram as well. The cart system doesn't really need much because cart roms are as fast as ram. The cd system CANNOT play games directly off of the cd like a cart. It must load data into the system ram and then access it from there. So I think that the assumption that it would be easy to make a cart system from a cd system isn't very well thought out at all.

I don't think it would be easy because i don't know how to mess with circuit boards and whatnot but since the Neo CD and Neo AES are so similar technically. I can't see how much harder it would be to create a convertor. Especially, after seeing the release of the MVS to AES convertor.

In my opinion !Arcade! should consider making a Neo-Geo CDZ II with AT LEAST a 24x CD-ROM.

Personally I hope he'll have some mysterious port on the AES2 which turns out to be for a CD-ROM. I like the way the frontloader Sega CD and original model Genesis stacked together so neatly. If there is a CD-ROM drive for AES2, it should be at least 24x. The CD-ROM converter could have its own BIOS and 7 Megabyte RAM.

Hell, if !Arcade! wanted to go whole hog, he could then kick the RAM on the thing up a notch to maybe 12 Megabytes. Talking to SNK about getting a license to release NGCD versions of CD no-shows like Blazing Star, Garou, Metal Slug 3, Shock Troopers 2 etc. would then rock (I think some of these games are above the RAM limits of Neo-CDZ). Maybe I'm dreaming...

Have faith in !ARCADE! i bet he can make it happen.
Just post up what you would like to see.
For Example:
Maybe a super fast loading Neo CD system?

Maybe a english version of Sam Sho RPG?

Like playing Sam Sho 3 CD(horrid loading times) with no loading time.

Just say what you would like to see happen.

With enough thought and word it will manifest reality unless it doesnt.
