China says Taiwan is China.

Taiwan says Taiwan is Taiwan.

China is pressuring other countries, and now companies to not acknowledge Taiwan so that when they invade they will not call it an invasion, but rather just moving troops around inside China.

This is a frighteningly precise way of putting it

China: Don't interfere in our domestic affairs!
Also China: Other countries must accept our interpretation on all geopolitical, cultural, and historical issues!

PRC is going to ruin humanity.

I think this is a very big deal and needs to be talked about more. It is even getting me to post for the first time in yonks.

Many gamers will go 'meh, as long as the game still plays the same who cares' and are therewith missing the big picture.
Question is, where will this stop? These small changes are in a way a re-writing of history a la George Orwell. You could say a small subliminal influencing of minds which, as c0n0r said earlier, will play a part when China one day moves troops into Taiwan.

Look at the recent removal of Tiananmen Square footage from the COD trailer because China complained. I get that their market is huge and that the company has to comply in order to make coin... but... it is crazy.
Removing country names and flags from old games however?? That's nuts and in effect a part of re-writing history.

Ya know, I wonder if this kind of thing has anything to do with the dubious selection of games on the MVSX? BBS2, AOF2, and SSK2 are all missing from the set. That said, you'd think that there would be the same kind of flags/imagery in Super Sidekicks 1 or the other sports games?

I think it does, unfortunately. The removal of the Rising Sun Flag is likely the reason for exclusion in AOF2’s case:

To be fair, the Rising Sun Flag is controversial in other countries as well, such as Korea:

On the topic of censorship/the altering of Neo Geo games, the history has always been rather long and complicated when it comes to changing and removing content (sometimes years after the fact like the Fatal Fury instance below from the SNK Playmore era).

Korea censorship:

Unfortunately, even SNK Playmore themselves went back and altered the original games for the Fatal Fury Battle Archives collection in japan and abroad to keep the rating low:

Completely agree, I did not catch how this had already been going on

SNK back in the day had Korean versions of some of their titles, some of which were modified/ censored. The most notorious one, due to the cost, had to be sam sho 4 where they edited out voice clips, changed character names, and other stuff.

I had a wiki page about Korean carts, but the wiki pages here have had their content wiped out ages ago.
