weird sound problem on MV-1FZ

I had the same problem with the same board. the sm1 is faulty, i desoldered it, and tested with xgpro using because it is same pinout as 27C1000A. You can also read it and save it into your hard drive and compare it with the sm1.sm1 file inside the neogeo.zip with another software as hxd hex editor. if you use a socket it is a good way to proceed.

yes but you should also click start at the screen with the sm1 unresponsive error to see what it displays.

ah! it looks like the START option is available only for boards B and C. Anyway, pressing START I got:

in that case it is related to the z80. check traces between 6116, ym2610 and sm1; if there are no trace iusses you should change z80.

I see; no problem with traces from and to Z80. I reordere the Z80 but I'll be able to test it only this Christmas :(.
Vacation is over and I'm leaving Italy until then.

Hey guys. After swapping the Z80 with a new one, the audio is back. This thread is solved. Thanks all for helping me!
