I use 1.65" x 7.5"

There's a bit more clearance vertically than horizontally. It leaves enough that even bootleg cart cases that are slightly wider can fit without scraping. Your 7.75" might be a bit too much, but 7.6" would be a generous amount of clearance I'd say.

thanks, updated length to 7.66 as suggested. Left width to 1.84 in case motherboard needs to move. If someone has a JNX and can measure the back distance. Changed to 0.26" but I don't know if that is correct?

Should I be worried? not planning on selling this but willing to share the knowledge. Honestly would prefer paying for a JNX but it ain't available so I'm going to build one for myself.

Already have a DFO ready and will use a THS7374 solution for RGBs which I already purchased.

Neobiosmasta, unibios 4.0 and battery mod kit purchased from this guy on ebay.

Also got this but it wont fit and I don't like the metal part. Will probably get the a DB15 connector (black plastic) from Mouser.

Mouser # 571-1658615-3
Mfr. # 1658615-3

We can only hope.

You're good man. The dogs are at bay. We only ask that you update this thread as you make progress or have questions.

Good luck and have fun

I use M2.5 for everything to keep it simple. The holes around the cartridge port don't really fit M3 that well. The rest are a lot larger but you can use washers or the M2.5 x 6 standoff as a nut instead and it works just fine. If you have other components, though, you may need to measure the size.

It was so cheap I purchased all those M3 items from aliexpress

M2.5 x 0.45 2,5mm .0984
M3 x 0.5 3mm .1181

I checked other DB15 schematics, diameter of the thru hole is indeed .120 which means M3 would be a perfect fit.

The scart solution is nice but seems unnecesary, the jamma connector with the DB15 and everything into a PCB is really nice though, didn't know it existed.

I'm also building another one using a Pactec DM-2 case for the Beharbros parts.

Update for today, this was actually very difficult to put that db15 cutout :oh_no:

Working on consolizing my MV1C in a Bud PC-11481 case. Based the overall dimensions from official Bud schematics.

Not sure if this is considered heresy but this is for my own personal use. Trying to determine the right dimensions for the cartridge slot and need some input before firing the laser. :loco:

btw, still waiting for the board and case, that's why I find it hard to confirm measurements.

Looks good!

I wish Orc was here to see “this is how you design and get feedback” instead of his Neil Breen-esque sentient Dunning-Kruger at a keyboard posts.

This is my progress so far. I want the pcb to be as low as possible so that there is enough clearance for neobiosmasta and vertical battery. There is no space at the back so I 3D printed an extended back panel in order to fit the DC power connector and mini din port. An unintended upside to this is there is now additional space to house a CMVS RGB board if you want to use that!

The case is easy enough to drill a standoff hole through which I used 6mm standoffs on the 4 corners and 4 more for cartridge support. Another option is to just bottom it all the way down to the cases mounting bosses which I prefer but just didn't have 4mm standoffs on hand.

I did a lousy job putting on the game cartridge hole at the top. Will try again with a laser cutter for sure. Was also impatient in removing the bios and got some traces removed, my soldering skills suck too I know but no worries it still does power up and work!

Planning to eventually release this on thingiverse once it's finalized for anyone interested.

Video, Audio, controllers, and power are all wired up and everything works as expected. Still waiting on a few more parts and planning to install a CMWS RGB board from oshpark.

Preparing to release on thingiverse so stay tuned.

Looks good but try and hide those cables for the video under the rear of the PCB.
