So my MV-1C suddenly boots with this error:

Any idea what this means or what chip I need to replace, if any ?

It means the hardware test failed when testing backup ram. At address D00000 it wrote 0x0000 and when it read it back it got 0x0008. This is indicating the lower backup ram chip has an issue.

Thanks!
I'll see if I can find a good source for the RAM chips ,so I can replace them.

and It seems to have worked ,I no longer get the error message, however I did receive this other error message the second time I powered the unit on

after clearing the backup RAM I haven’t received any more error messages and it seems to all be fine now.Any ideas what that illegal instruction error message means ? Or what could have caused it?

It's probably the bios receiving an unexpected value due to the ram not being initialized properly upon installation.

Yes, and I also made sure it was cleaned as well as the cartridge slot. Its a Neo SD Cart so it might just be finicky.

You've only received the error once? I'm hoping it's a fluke, as shadowkn55 said, your system may have been expecting old data on your new chips. It seems to have sorted itself out though.
