Yeah, are you a true appreciator of Japan's culture or are you unworthy of traveling there in basic's standards? This is important.

I would say that the Japanese people are overall very clean and well-mannered. They will also go to the end's of the earth to help you, for example, if you ask someone for directions more often than not they will go above and beyond to help you reach your destination. Most take pride in their work/craft, very hardworking people with good work ethic. They are a bit cold, in which I mean, they aren't the sort to give a hug to their friend or be very touchy- but I kind of prefer that. More of a reserved people. They have culture based around hierarchy and respecting those above them. Crime is pretty much non-existent for the most part. I've traveled to many, many countries in my life but Japan is definitely tops for both the geographic beauty, as well as the great people living there.

Nope. There are a few retro console shops around Yongsan mall but I have never seen anything of note. Korea never did console gaming. It was pure PC/Arcade and now Mobile takes up a lot of the market. The biggest gaming landmark was Green Arcade but it closed last year due to code violations. You can find some arcade stuff at a reasonable price but all of the negotiation is in Korean and takes place on Korean websites that require a Korean mobile/SSN to sign up for.

There are at least a few of them around Shizuoka prefecture, and I know there are some in Hokkaido and in Tohoku, so maybe there are some around Tokyo as well.
    Thank you!

As a user suggested before, guess I will just skip retrogames in Seoul. Thanks!

I saw this article recently about the use of the Japanese Imperial flag being widespread and with the 2020 Olympics games coming up and all, how other countries like China, SK would like it banned. The Japanese justification for it's use today is one hell of a whitewash.

lol...yeah i don't honestly care either way. i just want him to admit that his whole opinion of japan is based off of liking video games and wanting live out the MJR dream and being into hentai. if this dude goes to japan he's not going to go anywhere but the akihabara.

It doesn't even matter what he says because you hit the nail on the head. A friend of mine went to Japan with some mates and literally spent their entire time in Akiba, inside arcades. Great holiday doing things you do at home but abroad!

Not many people left from that era, I'm afraid.

Akihabara is honestly a pretty disgusting location filled with overpriced games and tons of foreigners. I was actually surprised last time I was in Japan and spoke to a couple Europeans who were there just to spend time in Aki and Denden town to shop for anime figures and such. What a waste of a trip. The best part of Japan is going through and seeing the beautiful geography of the nation. Going on a hike up to a mountain shrine during a typhoon was my favorite experience last time I was there (no visitors around). Also driving up the mountain passes was an awesome way to spend the day.

It seems to me you really hate Japan and Japs though, which is weird, because you're on a message board about a Japanese arcade system. Obviously the Japs have done horrible things in the past, but as has pretty much every single nation at some point in their history. Bringing up past injustices is a poor argument to make, as you could make the same argument about any other nation with a sizable population.

    “The Japs”?

I’m sure they love being called that.

No, it's because you tried to pass yourself off as some super weeb by demonstrating your depth of cultural understanding of the Japanese.

I'm sure a Japanese person would read this and think "Wow this guy really gets me. I AM well mannered and I DO shower. I also like to be helpful to people. These cultural traits are completely unique to us."

lol, I love people that like to throw insults on the internet. I went to Japan for the first time in 2001 training in Okinawan Karate. I had previously trained in Thailand in Muay Thai for a year before heading to Okinawa. I respect Japan as a nation, but I don't worship the place and would never want to live there. I just mentioned some traits I found good in their people and nation. You can find good and bad everywhere. I have traveled extensively around the world exploring different martial art styles. Japan was definitely one of the cleanest and safest places I've ever been to. You sound like you've probably barely even traveled outside the confines of your own city. Keep talking crap online, I'm sure it will get you far.
