Of course my I/O board did not have the wiring harnesses included, and of course the schematics only show the front mounted JST connectors into the I/O board, but not the pinout of the I/O board itself.

And of course the first wheel I bought was an optical encoder vs a traditional potentiometer :annoyed:

This is part 1 of the conversion process. Really just trying to build a pinout via multimeter while checking the schematic that was available in spots.

What I did learn is you can swap the I/O boards around to any Hyper motherboard and effectively convert your setup. I hadn't seen / heard that done before, so unless I missed that info at least I know that now.

Currently it's booting games, network check harness bypass has been build, and the wheel / pedal set are wired up to be connected. Issue is I don't exactly know where they connect. Still working on that!

If anyone has any thoughts lmk. Went in expecting this to be as easy as Beast Busters 64 conversion, and after a month I am still working on it. Def not a day project lol

Good luck with it. I hate projects that go on way longer than expected. Seems to happen to me most of the time. This one sounds particularly bad. Wish I could help. I believe NeoTurfmasta had his working long ago.

I found a parts board to pick up from someone on here, so I will soon have the wiring harness and it'll be way easier. And yes, this project was one of those "I think it'll take a few days" and has turned into a real odyssey

Well it’s booting games so it’s halfway there. Waiting on a wiring harness to finish the controls

I wondered when someone would notice the pen. Wasn’t intentional either. I worked at AMA Tower, across the street from Trump Tower in Chicago, and snagged the pen paying a bill at the bar a few years back. It’s a nice pen

Thank you for this. I'm sorry it's going so much worse than you had hoped.

Eh I’ll live. Half my fault forgetting about optical encoders lol. I figured a wheel that old would just use a pot!

I’ve got a wiring harness on the way from Germany so I can complete wiring the wheel and pedals into the I/O, so unless there are any other surprises it should be good from there. I just want to play the games already lol
