Hi all.

Decided to get out my Neo Geo AES for a few games today and have found a strange issue that I'm hoping you guys can offer up some advice on.

I'm in the UK, the Neo Geo AES as far as I'm aware is Japanese, it has a unibios installed, 50/60Hz toggle switch and a led in the reset button.

I purchased the console years ago from Console Passion over here in the UK.

I connected the AES to my Daewoo Crt today via RGB and noticed how the picture had a yellowish tint to it. I checked all connections incase the scart cable was loose and everything was fine.

I then decided to hook it up to my Samsung plasma HDTV where the issue was completely gone. Of course the picture was the usual on a HDTV but the yellowish tint that was on my Crt was not present here at all.

Can anyone offer up any explination as to what's causing this? It's good that nothing is wrong with my AES but my Crt must either not like the Japanese Neo Geo or the RGB scart cable.

I used to have this Neo Geo hooked up to a Sony Trinitron and didn't have this issue, seems odd that this crt doesn't like it for whatever reason.

Stupid question but have you tried any other consoles plugged into the CRT, do they get the yellow tint as well?

No other consoles have this issue. I have tried connecting via my switcher as well as directly to the TV and it's the same either way.

run into AV signal incompatibility issues rarely.
it could be down to the screen itself if all traces are intact on the console/cable.
if all is well on other tellies, then nothing to worry about.
using an old sharp lcd pos from years ago on on the internet, great for svga and Y.Pb.Pr, just fails at Y.U.V. and CVBS.
Y.U.V. comes in as black and white, yet works fine on other screens tested on.
get a circuit tester on all parts related to video if in doubt.
all the best. :D
(other screen is fine, a sanyo pos, twice the size in dimensions too.)

Just to show you what I'm talking about below are two pictures taken to show the difference.

The first is the AES running via the OSSC in 5x mode in my Samsung 51" Plasma. Below that is on my 21" Daewoo CRT, both in 60Hz via RGB. The picture is not the best quality it was taken on my Samsung Tab 's.

As you can see the difference is massive. Image looks washed out and yellow on the CRT. This eliminates anything wrong with the console and is either a issue with the cable or CRT. Please bear in mind that I have no issues with any other consoles via RGB on the CRT.

I was thinking maybe the issue was because the console is Japanese but then I also have a RGB modded Japanese N64 running via RGB on the same CRT with no issues.

At the moment I'm guessing it's a cable issue. Most of my cables are c sync from retro gaming cables so thinking of getting another to try as I'm not sure what this particular RGB cable is.

leaning on the telly as it's old af tech and no doubt used it's bollocks off.
the hd screen appears crisp, so leaning the crt suspect.
if you know of an electronic specialist, or can DIY, good luck.
the console output seems to be all right based on the images posted. :glee:

Yeah the picture via the OSSC is amazing

I'm still thinking maybe the cable as no issues at all with any other console and the TV is a late me CRT that was as od as brand new in the box and has one of the best pictures I have ever seen.

Go to the menu in the Daewoo CRT and switch the scart input to RGB. If there are 2 scart inputs try the other one. Normally only one of them supports RGB.

Ok the Daewoo obviously doesn't like your RGB cable then. Would also try another one like you stated earlier.

Purchased another RGB cable and the picture seems to be much better on my crt with a csync RGB scart cable. However with both cables I have when connected to my HDTV I get a shakey image why is this?

Can a power adapter cause a issue like this?

Can anyone tell me what the best power adapter available is and where to purchase please? No idea if mine is official or not as had no markings on the front of it.
