As a kid, I wanted cash.

As an adult, I give cash to my nieces and nephew. My sister goes to after Christmas sales so they always looked forward to it. They'd show me what they bought. Everyone was happy.

Stigma. I don't understand it. As Chinese, we always give cash gifts for birthdays, new years, etc.

Cash is also much easier to give. The only time gift cards are worthwhile is when you get more than they cost in credit and were planning on spcnding it anyway.
