It’s a great question. Both movies are kind of the same thing.

In the end I went with Kickboxer because I felt it was a better story with better characters. Tong Po was evil. His crew was evil. They killed a dog. Tong Po raped Mae Li. Tong Po crippled the brother. Kickboxer was a revenge story, where the weakest part was kind of the end (because Tong Po needed to die, but ended up coming back again and again)

Bloodsport was still a great movie. But the only motivations in the movie that are understood are Frank Dux’s.

Personally, I think we should set both movies aside and watch Cyborg.

Best kickboxing movie ever made? Kickboxer.

Worst kickboxing movie ever made? Kickboxer 2.

Bloodsport, without question.

Better fight scenes, more memorable moments and one-liners, a plethora of fighting character archetypes, and video game homage to Karate Champ!

Plus JCVD practically cut the film together himself, and was directly responsible for the famed triple-take action shot.
Which became a standard in all of his movies from there on.

Kickboxer is solid but Bloodsport is just a lot more fun to watch.

This is all correct, but for some reason I just like Bloodsport more.

nah, i'm gonna :keke:. 80's was a time when movies meant so much to us, more than any other time since, and blood sport was up there as one of the best of that era, which to me translates as one of the best ever.

wasabi nailed it. Tong Po raped JCVD's gf, guys. How many movies did the bad guy rape the good guy's gf? That's fucked up.

I also like Kickboxer because it was shot on-location in Thailand, so some scenes you get to see a slice of life in 80s Thailand as well as the beautiful ruins and pagodas.

Anyways, here's JCVD's daughter

edit: wow, only wasabi, Gaston and me for KB. Maybe everyone else chose Bloodsport because the title is cool.

I love both. I only picked Bloodsport because of Chong Li.

That's what I was about to post.

Cyborg > All other JCVD movies.

I think those that can appreciate Cyborg, actually get it. It’s my favourite JCVD film as well. There are plenty that don’t get it.

Nowhere to Run is up there for me too. It must tick the boxes for a midday movie here in Aus as I’ve caught it a couple of times on free to air during the day.

When Rosanna Arquette was still hot.

Hard Target is great, but that’s because it’s John Woo directing. Could’ve been Antonio Sabato Jr. in the lead and it would’ve still been entertaining.
