I heard Xbox One may have online launch issues (which could get patched), but PS4 feels very solid.

and it seems character creation has 99 to 100 slots approx.

I dunno how the next Samurai Spirits is gonna rival this, then again it doesn't need to in order to be great.

tho yea KOFXIV would have been the fighting game and best value for the buck this generation if it weren't for SCVI entering the picture. SCVI really brings back the glory days of massive content packed fighting game with tons of quality and top quality everything! Would say it perhaps has the greatest netcode and infrastructure EVER! plus the most replay value incentives with a phenomenol fighting system as well!

Namco fumbled a bit with Tekken 7, but Soul Calibur VI really raises the standards in the genre in my opinion. those devs really gave it their all and 200% extra.

I agree. Edge and Calibur still focused on juggling. Since 2 they games have focused more on the 8 way run and character tracking out of it. 2 was tolerable but the rest are just continued rehashes of what doesnt work. The atmosphere is too bright and roman. The night levels in the first game were revolutionary at the time. I remember walking into Aladdins Castle and seeing that up on the spectator’s tv above the cabinet and being in awe.

playing more of VI, it clearly is #1 fighting game of all time!! of course opinion, and conservative fans of SC1, 2, etc. are not going to be convinced, but I honestly feel SCVI perfects the fighting genre like no other!! and I was a casual SC fan, but SCVI is outstanding in ALL categories, and it definitely is not a copy/paste of III/IV/V, its a combination of things that makes it a supreme masterpiece!!

it does sometimes lag online, but game breaking lag and disconnects are rare. and while Namco still prefers family friendly lobbies instead of usb keyboard chat freedom, there are a lot of decent present messages to post, plus it has the most intelligent lobby system that saves people time, as long as one player readies up, the other either is compelled to ready in 10 seconds otherwise the next player gets their turn faster. :) really saves a lot of lobbies from being idle, and there is host switch too. plus doesnt seem to be a kick feature, so it removes much of the toxic exploits people abuse in other games.

here are day 3 fight videos!

I like it, but I'd say it's far from perfect. I could do without the Reversal Edge feature. That feature really breaks up the game's pace, and is especially annoying when people constantly use it over and over and over again.

I want to check it out, but nothing in the SC franchise has piqued my interest like 2. Though this game does look impressive and I like the new combat mechanics.

Jedah, if you pick it up message me. I don't think you and I have played a fighting game since Guilty Gear XX #Reload on the OG Xbox. God what a lagfest that shit was back then.

I have only screwed around in the training mode and I want to ease myself back into real opponents.

whaaat. Reversal Edge makes the combat and depth more exciting! and unlike cutscene gimmicks like DBZ's burst zone, SCVI's reversal edge can go either way and even neutral depending on players inputs, there can even be clashes! Reversal Edge makes the fights much more intense and adds one more strategic option to players arsenal, and even those that abuse reversal edge can be countered and a reversal edge can work against them if they guess the opponents action wrong. reversal edge improves the pacing and adds more INTENSE moments! especially when used near the climax of a round/match.

SC combat is not nearly as great without things like reversal edge and the epic super moves it has (and with fair accessible inputs. they eliminated the frustration other fighting games have with overcomplicated inputs. so more players can compete.)

Nope, reversal edge is a gimmick. Period.
It destroys the pacing of the match, because it interrupts momentum with a repetitive QT event. It’s a cheap rock-scissors-paper feature that has been done time and time again.

its not a gimmick. might as well call dial a combos gimmicks then cause they are inescapable cheese that rewards player with OP links everytime they input the combo right.

also interrupting momentum adds to the fight. and you call that repetitive when fighting games since SFII have their repetitive routines and even the latest overrated fighting games are a set routine and the same big damage combos are REPEATED every single round in fighting games.

you argue about something in a genre that is centered on repetition in many aspects.

and a Reversal Edge has more ways it can go than fireball zoning.

also rock paper scissors is found in other parts of fighting games too. such as jumps in 2D games can get stuffed by anti airs

there is a counter to different types of things. reversal edge adds much needed dimension to the fighting and it adds more utility and options to the player without being a foolproof move, it can work against them too, so unlike cheap mechanics in other fighting games, it does make things more balanced.

Nothing you just said supports Reversal Edge as being a good feature. It’s annoying and it gets old fast.
It’s pretty much like Injustice’s clash system. It’s a stupid QT event that adds nothing to the game other than making casuals feel accomplished.

thats really not true. it adds innovative depth and dimension to the fighting. the Reversal Edge also doubles as an offensive mechanic AND a defensive mechanic, like a next gen block function that branches out into new possibilities. it has way more depth than IJ's clash system and has more uses and makes matches less predictable cause it adds a 4th dimension to the fighting.
