Yes, that will work for just your Aes but what most people do is get a Scart Switch and a BNC to Scart Breakout Cable which allows you to hook up different consoles to your scart switch via scart cable. Unless you plan on buying a Extron Switch and running all your consoles off of bnc cables. That could get pricey though.

Are you planning on just playing Neo-Geo on your monitor? I would recommend something like this

Or This

FWIW, I use an xrgb with one of those 4K tcl TVs and any input lag is negligible. OSSC is cheaper though and general consensus seems to be that it’s better, so I’d go with one of those at this point. Not sure it’s worth all the cash and effort to track down a pvm or bvm now that they’re so well known.

A switch has nothing to do with converting anything. It's to more easily switch between multiple systems. If you want to just connect an AES to a monitor with BNC inputs, then yes, that should work. As mentioned, you should probably go do some reading on RetroRGB to better understand this stuff before you start spending a bunch of money.

I've read some there but I have more to do. I'm going with a CMVS from JNX so need to figure out how best to go from RGB output there to RGB input via BNC on the Sony PVM.

So go from whatever cable JNX provides to SCART and then one of the above cables to go from SCART to BNC. I'll probably end up doing that but would be cooler to go from the console straight to BNC. I suppose that would be a custom cable.

This is the best option. Those cables are tremendous and will increase your penis size by 1"-3".

If Xian Xi builds you a CMVS he will either build you a scart cable or tell you which one you need to buy. It will look something like this

https://retro-access.com/collection...eo-aes-cd-cdz-rgb-scart-av-cord-cable-tv-lead

After that you could plug it in directly to this which connects to your PVM

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Female-RGB...638851?hash=item2cd88c5e43:g:tQQAAMXQAEFSD-4B

Or you could buy the male scart to bnc and plug it into the input on something like this

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Gscartsw-SCART-switch/372398367516?hash=item56b4ac231c:g:TAoAAOSwYSBbblJQ

This will allow you to plug in other Consoles like Snes, Genesis, Whatever. Will require a specific scart cable for each console. Are you getting it?

If you're putting it on a desk, go for a 14" PVM. Sitting that close you probably won't be bothered by a smaller screen, it'll be much less expensive, and it'll take up much less space.
I would suggest getting a 20" PVM as opposed to 14", but it depends whether it can fit on your desk. The 20" screen size is better for the big sprites of the Neo Geo. I've never had a TV on my desk, as my desk is reserved for reading and writing. Or you could get both, a 14" and a 20", if you can find them cheap. Sometimes the choice comes down, to some extent, to whatever you can find cheap, as prices (that you actually pay, not the advertised price) of PVMs and BVMs vary all over the place. The people selling CRTs forget that they are (officially) obsolete technology. Sometimes people give them away, if they are desperate to offload them.

I'm planning my entry into the world of Neo Geo and trying to decide between a Sony BVM-20F1U and an XRGB Framemeister. I'm leaning toward the CRT but wanted to see if there's a consensus on this for Neo Geo. I'll mainly be playing shmups.

I decided to go with the OSSC for space savings, piping in to a much larger screen than what I can ever do with CRT... it's quite a nice piece of kit. The colors and scanlines look great.

I have a 20" PVM due to frivolous spending in the years past but if I was to make the decision now? I'd go for an OSSC and call it a day, they look fucking great and honestly even a 20" PVM is a huge chunky fuckin thing let alone a bigger one!

Not that you will listen, but the OSSC is the best option in this scenario, just as 400 people before me have mentioned. OSSC, inexpensive gaming LCD, AES (Stereo breakout SCART cable) and NESOSD. DONE.

All of this will sit cleanly on your desktop. Like others have mentioned, adding a SCART switch will allow you to add other consoles in the future (PC Engine is the GOAT for shmups)

I've had 2x BVM's and while the image is good, it's really too much like an lcd with simulated scanlines for my tastes. I ended up going back to consumer crt's (preferably later models). BVM's have really thick scanlines too so it's not really for everyone.
