How about having the advertised price as the final sales price with tax included

Never understood why in the US prices in the shops are not actually what you pay. Why's it like that?

There's no national sales tax. It's determined by states, counties and cities.

Because lower price sells.

And also, not everyone pays sales tax. People purchasing things to resell (and collect tax on) do not have to pay sales tax at point of purchase.
