Hey,

by looking at this photo would you say, that it is a bad burn in, that needs replacement or is hindering the gaming experience? Is a little burn in normal for an arcade monitor?

Haven´t seen it in real life. Just the photo... considering to buy the cabinet...

I have no experience with arcade monitors.

Help is much appreciated

It's normal with 99% of arcade monitors in this day and age.

You would need to see it playing to be able to make an assesment on whether or not it bothers you enough to buy teh cab or not. Check the colors (make sure theyre vibrant), sharpness (its usually something you can adjust yourself), contrast, make sure there's no rolling image/collapse.

At this point, you need to be very lucky to find a cab that does not have some sort of burn in.

If youre hung up on that and are looking for a pristine monitor in an old arcade cabinet (especially on that was on location), then you need to not spend any money in this hobby and find something else to obsess over.

Cant tell from the pictures - something like that is best to figure out by actually seeing it in front of you.

The question is, would you accept that kind of screen burn? You'll be the one playing on it.

Try it with a few games, trust your gut and what your eyes tell you.

And ask if any work (re-cap, chassis replacement, etc.) has been done to it.

Do your own due diligence.

All of my cabs have some type of burn in, life bars, game over screen, or even jsut a line. But I play, so it doesn't bother me. YMMV.

No man, that neon-sign burn-in is unacceptable.

I don't mind minor burn in around the edges but right in the middle of the screen like this would bother me.

A bit of burn in is fine, to me it’s much more important that the screen is nice and bright and sharp,, you don’t want a blurred or dim screen.

I can barely see it in the pictures with the game playing. Buy it.

Totally unplayable. The person selling this should be ashamed of themselves. How are you supposed to take good photos to post online with that kinda burn in?

you'll get used to the mark there after a while. once it gets to the point where things become difficult to play. look into replacement monitors. if its a good deal on the cab, worth a shot.

Just put some tinted glass in front of it and you will hardly notice.
