Is that a damaged component on the lower left? That yellow one... the sockets aren't marked, i don't know how else to reference it.

Hah! That looks cracked right half in two. Looks like some sort of ceramic cap.

Yikes at that tetris. They split the difference between a portable and a mini cab and ended up with the worst design possible.

At least they're pricing it accordingly. And I wonder if that stick is microswitched. That alone would make it a better thing than the neo geo mini.

Mine showed up right before I had to go to work. I'll be checking it out this weekend. Mock away!

Yup, didn't we all expect a Linux (or Android) based box with a Neo Geo emulator? The big surprise to me is finding a MIPS CPU instead of an ARM one.

[EDIT]The Micron 29F32G08CBADB seems to be a 32GB Nand flash memory, so there should be plenty of space for a full ROM set.[/EDIT]

I have to correct myself.
According to https://datasheetspdf.com/pdf-down/2/9/F/29F32G08C_Micron.pdf 32G in the name stands for gigabits, so 4Gigabytes of NAND Flash.

ETA Prime says 2GB storage are the first results he found searching for the Micron chip, but, according to Micron data specs pdf it’s 4GB.

Ah ok that makes sense. I didn’t realize he arrived at that conclusion via an initial google search. He said he planned to mess around with the system over the weekend to see if he can load additional games.

Any word on international release date yet? Seems like this sold pretty well in Japan.

Even then, how does a logo or lack thereof on a motherboard affect your enjoyment of a video game device in any fashion? How much fucking time do you spend looking at a motherboard?

Found this on eBay...

15” Samsung screen that appears to be 4:3, although I can’t make out enough of the model number to get more details. Looks pretty decent and it should be quite simple to replace the artwork.

I was at the Orange County Fair a week or two ago and they had some similar looking systems, but made of wood for $1500.

Dude said , "these are all Jamma based not using raspberryPi. This is the best you cant get anywhere."

Told him I paid $60 for a Pandoras box cart, he said, "it's not the same, mine has over 1200 games. I have these pandora boxes for $270 plus tax, but if you pay cash just $270 for you."

I said, "No thanks, and good luck selling your Jamma based systems."

For those interested, there is a new guide book being published along with the launch of the neogeo mini in japan. The book is up for pre-order and is a guide focusing on the 21 fighting games featured on the unit. In addition to expected information on strategies, hidden characters, and commands, there will be information on neogeo hardware history as well:

Anyone hear of pre-orders opening up for the Neo Geo International edition yet? And where it’s going to be carried? I went to Gamestop and they didn’t even know about it!
