Yea and who knows if they decide to release another version of the pro. I would just hold off. I paid $212 for a Uncharted PS4 slim on Black friday 2016. No way am I paying more than $300 for a Pro. That God Of War Ps4 Pro does look nice though.

I only got a Pro because I was overseas and got it tax free. I don't think they'll do a pro 2 though, best let the system ripen and do the 5 in 2-3 years.

I got GOW today though from what has been said in this thread, time to check it out!

Yea, no doubt. Had I not purchased the regular ps4, I would have most likely purchased the Pro. Also like you mentioned the PS5 is probably 2-3 years away so the regular ps4 should hold me down. If some great deal comes out for the Pro on Black Friday I might jump on it and just replace my regular ps4. No Rush

Your going to love it bro. I'm about 8 Hours in. The Last time I played it was Sunday Night. Started around 9pm and was planning on just putting in 2-3 hours max. Got up to take a Piss and looked at the clock in the kitchen and it was almost 3am. I was like Fuck, I have to get up @ 6 for work lol. It's been awhile since a game got me locked in like that.

It took me a little to get use to the controls since the attack buttons are on the shoulder buttons instead of the face buttons but once you put some time in, it will start to make sense. I have nothing bad to say about this game so far. It is what I waited for and expected from a God of War game. The Music, World Design, Story, Action is all on point . It really does live up to the Hype.

Looks like I'm just going to have to cave and get this game asap. Being off work right now, don't have much more to do than gaming. (Injury, not let go.)

I did go out and upgrade to the PS4 Pro. I really didn't need to, but Target had a sale for 20% off on the pro. Supposed to be only on the regular 1TB edition, but heard there have been some who had luck with bundles. Tried to do it on the Battlefront combo, but couldn't quite get the guy to do it sadly. (GoW edition was sold out of course.)

Having never played 3, yet, would I miss out on much just playing the new one?

The new release has got me thinking that I never did finish the original games and I should really get on that. What's the best way to play the original game in 2018? PS3 collection?

Ps3 Saga Collection is the way to go. You could also pick up the GOW3 remaster on the ps4.

I'm pretty sure I have the 1 an 2 collection up in the attic as I remember playing God of War 1 in HD at some point. I don't think I ever bought 3 so I can just get the PS4 version of that if I ever make it through the first two.

Well you can't ignore that they're related, somehow, yet to be seen for me anyway. I'd say no though, the first three are in a world of their own. If anything I think playing this one would make you want to play 3 at least. I never played 1 or 2 just the two on PSP.

Started looking through to see if I had GoW3 Remastered as I thought I had bought it, but can't find it. I'll probably go out and pick up a copy of the new one soon, then. Figure it will be a while before it goes on sale.

The Original PS2 Discs have a option in the menu to do 480p. Will look much better on a crt like a Wega than a newer LED/LCD TV. That's how I played the first God of War and it looked fantastic. GOW 1+2 Still hold up well IMO and are a blast to play.

I'm not really adding much with this post but this game is fucking great. Time disappears and there is never enough of it for my liking, can't say that about most games.

I am doing the same stupid thing I do ever time and going to pick up the Stone Mason edition. Why? Just because, I suppose. Can always sell off the extra pieces if I don't want them, I suppose. At least I found it at a Best Buy and get 20% off, but sounds like my time is going to be eaten up by this game.

I agree ps3 is the way to go, plus you can find the collection fairly cheap at most retro game stores that even include the psp games formatted to run on ps3

Been playing for an hour and while it looks stellar, I can't get in the flow of it all.

Game gets better and better the more you play it.

Halfway through there's a cool reveal, and the many wrinkles that get added to the combat throughout just keep building on a really solid foundation.

Several of the best boss fights I've seen in a while.

And an utter truckload of content. No DLC, and yet, there's so much content that feels worth doing post-game. The Valkyries are awesome, great skill tests, very pure fights. Muspelheim's arenas get pretty damn challenging. Niflheim is... unique, no spoilers.

Anyone who's just started and not sure about it, keep at it. First few hours might be a little underwhelming (other than the Baldur fight), but it gets SO good.

Okay, couple complaints: the gear/leveling system is irritating in the post-game. If you're still at level 5, there are a few challenges that are like hitting a brick wall head-on. The lists of parts needed to upgrade or build armor good enough to level you past that are kind of silly in most cases. It's not a huge thing since the power/difficulty curve is smooth for the main game, but it's kind of a pain after.

And the story isn't very good. It starts out with low stakes, then only actually shows you the point of everything at the very end. There are a lot of little parts that are told well during the main game, but the overarching story is mediocre and doesn't establish stakes well.

Only just entering Helheim, still addicted and the only reason I stopped tonight was because my controller needed a recharge.

Alright now that I've finished the game and had a rummage around in the post-game I can't help but feel that the game is seriously unfinished. :(

Spoiler:
What a terrible finish that feels about as abrupt as completing a GTA3 mission.

Double that up with absolutely no fuckin explanation about not having travel access to Vanaheim, Asgard and Svartlheim other than when you select the gate 'odin has prevented travel to this realm' Oh nice one couldn't write that into the story somehow?

Yeah you get back to your home and Odin presents himself yadda yadda but it's just a flat ending with fuck all else to do other than defeating the valkyries and other trophy rubbish... god who cares about trophies!

Well despite all that I'll play the next one or the 'expansion pack' you could say. Kept me rolling and that's pretty rare for me.
