What the hell's going on out here?

Everything is all messed up. Woj says Kawhi wants to play for Lakers, but Shams says he prefers Clippers.

Kawhi should be sued for his shenanigans. I am not a spurs fan, but Kawhi was hiding in NYC with his “crew” protecting him from being spotted by Spurs personnel

And he wants to get paid? He basically wanted to hide from the spurs any evidence that he was healthy or sick.

That seems like some scumbag behavior.

Yeah, unless there's some heretofore unseen shitty behavior on the part of the Spurs, Leonard is gonna come out of this as the bad guy. Pop successfully reconciling with Aldridge a year ago isn't going to help his cause, either.

This situation smelled like Royce White. He may be good to go physically, but mentally he may be somewhere else.

I wouldn't be surprised if he plays, and I wouldn't be surprised if he never plays again.

ESPN is reporting that Carmelo will not start the season with the Thunder. The two sides have mutually agreed that Carmelo will either be traded, bought out, or the Thunder will use the stretch provision.

Either way, Melo is willing to take the veteran minimum to play for a contender.

Lakers? He and LeBron have always been close friends. They play the same position is the only issue. But you could easily just put one of them at the 4.

Tony Parker signed a 2 year $10 million contract with the Charlotte Hornets.

Rockets apparently want him. They wanted him last year and still do, for some unknown, bizarre reason. But 'Melo hates playing stretch 4, and I guess I don't know who you stick there between him and PJ Tucker now that Ariza's out.

Nuggets just signed Isaiah Thomas to a one year, two million dollar deal to play backup point guard.

Also they traded two draft picks to get the Nets to take on Faried and Arthur's contracts.

Really great offseason for the Nuggets. Too bad they didn't fire their retarded head coach.

But they dumped over 70 million in salary/tax with Chandler, Faried, and Arthur

They drafted Porter Jr

They upgraded from the ghost of Devin Harris to Isaiah Thomas at backup point guard

They signed Jokic and Barton to long term deals

This is going to be a good team this year. Missed the playoffs by a single game two straight years, this time they're getting in

PG: Jamal Murray, Isaiah Thomas, Monte Morris
SG: Gary Harris, Malik Beasley, Torrey Craig
SF: Will Barton, Juancho Hernangomez, Michael Porter Jr
PF: Paul Millsap, Trey Lyles, Tyler Lydon
C: Nikola Jokic, Mason Plumlee, Thomas Welch

This team is going to put up massive amounts of points.

Which teams will fall out of the playoff mix in the west?

Because you can’t just rely on bumping New Orleans. You have to bump Minnesota too, and maybe San Antonio.

If Millsap had played more than 38 games the Nuggets already would have finished ahead of Portland, OKC, New Orleans, Utah, Minnesota last season. They were 4 wins out of the 3 seed with Trey Lyles and Wilson Chandler manning the 4 modt of the year.

Not to mention it took our retarded coach until late December to start running the offense through Jokic.

From how Jimmy Butler talks about the Wolves, they sound like a mess.

Likewise. He must know something we don't.
Also saw some speculation that not re-signing him could be one last olive branch to Kawhi, since Parker was generally considered to be the player who most offended him with his various comments last year.

SA isn't a playoff team without Leonard, and I think they'll realize that and be okay with it. Pop doesn't seem like the type of coach who'd be okay with tanking, but letting Murray develop another year, picking up a few nice pieces however they trade Leonard, and adding a mid-lottery pick, that's a decent team again in a real short time frame.

I like NO to win 50 games or so, that's a good team now that they play to Davis' strengths (and not Cousins'), and with a full season of Mirotic to space the floor and (hopefully) continued high-level play from Holiday.

Chicago Bulls are actually trying to sign Jabari Parker to a $40 million deal.

What was Chicago thinking in 2016?

2 years, $20mm a year for a guy that may not fit. Sounds like they are breaking from the trend of 1 year contracts.

Bulls seem to have interesting offseasons lately. I remember when they said they wanted a younger core, but then signed both Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo. :loco:

Spurs Get: DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a protected 2019 first-round pick
Raptors Get: Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green

A good move by the spurs considering they had to move Leonard, and Derozan still has several years left on his contract. Ultimately the success of the trade will depend on if Leonard stays in Toronto at the end of next season. It seems like an overly risky move on paper for them.

Yeah, if they gave up DeRozan for a one year Leonard rental that's a bad move. DeRozan had 3 years left on his deal.

There's apparently actually a decent chance that one of the reasons SA took that particular Leonard trade is because they knew how much he'd hate going to Toronto. Which is hilarious.
