Hoping that the new Swallow the Sun, When A Shadow Is Forced Into The Light, will be good. Release in two weeks.

Yeah. I'm gonna quote myself.

I listened to The Morning Never Came from 2003 today. Damn, every track is awesome. I hope they can recreate some of that magic.

I see Dismember have reformed for Scandinavia Deathfest with original lineup. I hope they tour this internationally.

That's awesome! Is Fred back on drums or was it there drummer from the last record?

Netherstorm made my 2018 top 10. This is Symphonic Black Metal done right! The guy is an an interesting Summoning inspired band called Druadan Forest, worth a listen.

My 2018 top 10 list (in no particular order)

Temple Nightside - Recondemnation
Graveland - Dawn of Iron Blades (remastered)
Remete - The Winter Silence
Clandestine Blaze - Tranquility of Death
Runespell - Order of Vengeance
Carved Cross - The Yawning Abyss of Perdition
Vargrav - Netherstorm
Paroxysmal Descent - Lacerae
Forest Mysticism - Hearken
Blood Stronghold - Immemorial Nightly Paths (demo)

That's awesome! Is Fred back on drums or was it there drummer from the last record?

According to MA it's the original lineup, and their status is active!

I know Netherstorm ;)

Unaware of the Clandestine Blaze - Tranquility of Death though, I should try to listen to it.
Btw, Warloghe was amazing in Brugge!

I just discovered a band called Soen. If you are into the progressive genre you may like them. Kinda soft, not much metal, but...their album from 2017 Lykaia is damn good. They remind me slightly of Opeth.

Soen is a Swedish progressive metal supergroup consisting of various high-profile extreme metal musicians. Their debut album Cognitive was released on February 15, 2012.
