Paypal will not issue a refund without tracking confirmation showing seller receives the item. And paypal claim request will close once 30 days window is over. Fortunately I got the tracking confirmation from USPS and Paypal re-opened the case for me to get my refund.
When buying from Aliexpress, you always get Ali's buyer protection. You have to open a dispute. They're usually pretty good with resolving any issues. Sellers will stall for time, try to get you to drop the dispute or accept a partial refund, but when instead of dealing with them, go through customer services and you're done. Even after the dispute time has lapsed.

I got a fake tracking number once. Package was to Sweden, but not to my address. Seller stalled for ages. Customer support sorted it out right away. Same with some other purchases that never arrived. Sellers stall, so I always go for a refund via CS. Works every time.

The only thing I've purchased via Ali Express was a Pandora's Box 3 when they first came out and I chose a seller that used 5-10 day DHL shipping to Canada. I swear I got the package in like 4 days which was crazy fast. I have a feeling like the basic Ali "free shipping" is by boat and will take 1-3 months to arrive.

Starting March, Sweden is starting to charge "China tax", which they just fucking made up. All packages will be charged additional $10 or $15 [depending on the value], plus the usual tax and customs fees, because "boo hoo, so many packages from China, every single person has to pay for every single package now".
This is actually a great idea. Maybe we could convince Trump to do it. Businesses and consumers are basically subsidizing these fuckers to undercut US producers, who have to pay far more to ship items domestically than the typical Chinaman pays to ship internationally.

Yeah, it's a great idea. In the same way as medieval taxation of every little bullshit thing was a great idea, when the crown needed some cash and the people could do only two things about it. Those things being jack and shit.

I have no problem with supporting local businesses, but when the things I buy have an insane markup, I'd rather pass. Especially since the things I want usually come from China anyway. If I want a HDMI cable, I'd rather buy it for $1 shipped than $13 AND UP locally. That $13 one is the same one I'm getting for $1 from China, by the way.

I buy a lot of things from china, but it's usually small things. Components, wires, cables ... most EPROMS I can't even get locally. I'm not planning on overpaying for every little thing just because someone came up with the idea of charging for something that's supposed to be free. I have NO PROBLEMS with paying fair tax on the goods purchased, but every time I got slapped with customs it was a laughably small amount of tax and a substantial sum of money for their hard work that was sending me the bill.

Also, living in US can't be compared to living in EU. The economy here is different and pretty much everything costs more, especially the things I want. I'm planning on sending my packages via another EU country, have all the small packages put in one box and shipped to me. Whenever I buy from Aliexpress, literally everything comes in separate envelopes. Every little thing. I can't pay $10 plus tax and fees on every package containing things I paid $1 ~ $5.

I'm actually wondering if this is legal. How would you react if US post suddenly decided it's going to charge you $10 ~ $15 for every package from outside the US? And that's on top of the regular import taxes and fees. Just because they felt they deserved more money. That fee is MORE than what it would cost to post that package to any address in the country.

Sweden has been implementing these bullshit taxes and fees lately. Another thing they're keen on implementing is TV licensing fees executed as a percentage of your income. If you own a TV, you're supposed to pay around $300 annually. You pay this for the ability to listen to the radio and the public service channels, which I never watch. According to statistics, 90% of people pay this fee, but that's not enough.

So what's the best solution? Make everyone with an income pay. No matter if there are several people in the household owning one TV. Taking the income percentage will result in more money flowing in from every citizen with any kind of income, including unemployment benefits.

Anyyywayyy ... That's one hell of an off-topic post.

Oh man, the Gebühreneinzugszentrale. We pay, so we get more and better propaganda. Radio is everywhere, so, if you own anything that may offer you an internet access, you pay and since even a fridge can offer you that... you'll always pay.

Yeah. They did the same thing here. Every device with internet access was considered a radio / TV receiver. Because, as usual, 90% of households paying the TV license fee wasn't enough. They wanted to get everyone and their pets. Through some miracle, someone took their ass to court, and it went all the way up the chain. The supreme court ruled against the fee for computers and smart devices. So now, instead, they will make everyone pay, no matter if they have a TV, a radio, a smart device or none of these things.

It's sad how over the last ten years or so, all kinds of benefits have disappeared, and fees like these have appeared instead. It's especially visible now, after the influx of refugees, who live off of benefits. The country needs cash. Bad. It's pretty apparent when things like "From now on EVERYONE will pay for XYZ" get passed nationwide. Years back, if you had to see a specialist doctor and one wasn't available in your town, the travel cost would be covered by the municipality. That's gone now, and the saddest thing is, they advertised it as a positive change for equality, so that people paying for their private trips wouldn't feel they're being unfairly treated.

Because, you know, why should I pay for my train ticket, when the guy next to me is riding for free, so that a doctor can take a look at his fucking tumor. Apparently, enough people felt this way, because that's the positive equality spin they put on the cancelation of those benefits.

And don't even get me started on congestion charges collected by fully automated systems, which according to Swedish government, are the best thing ever. Well, of course they are. You have fucking robots charging people money, and you're just counting the cash. If I got $10 from a robot every time someone knocks on my door, I wouldn't complain, either.

Ok. This thread has suddenly become really depressing. At least for me. Can we talk about Chinese consolized MVS some more? I'll even post the pictures of all available variants to get the conversation going again:

    neobrownPS2.jpg

I wish they were selling the controller converter boards separately. They have both PlayStation and Saturn options. Also, I've noticed they're selling Neo Geo X stuff as well. Docks, along with cables for use with Raspberry Pi in a dock, Neo Geo X sticks ... I guess the only thing these would be good for is for their cases and to be modded with better buttons and sticks.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. The problem is not the competition. The problem is the fact that the Chinese can send a package to the US with a cheap product in it for 99 cents including shipping. #1 The USPS is losing money on every piece of crap they send over. #2 US citizens are subsidizing this in the form of higher postal charges. #3 US companies are hurt by artificially low priced competition.

I actually agree with you as well.

Also, the most important thing is all these products are GUARANTEED to suck. It might be 50% ok, or even 75% ok - but they are never EVER good.

While this does apply to many, many products, the stuff I buy usually isn't affected. I buy the small stuff. Cables, wires, screw terminals, plugs, sockets ... things you can't really screw up that much. Occasionally, I'll get a screen protector for a console or a phone. When I buy things from China, I usually buy it for what it is. Cheaply made products for the lowest possible price. I don't need gold plated, snake oil infused, cyogenically freezed and vacuum packed HDMI cables for $100+. Aside from the HDMI cables I got with my consoles, the rest are from China, and hey ... they all work just fine. It's a cable, for crying out loud.

Any and all consumer electronics I buy locally, because I want the quality and warranty only a local purchase will provide. I will, however, NOT pay inflated prices for stupid cheap cables, which are insanely overpriced, because a local business needs their 700% profit after import taxes.

I ordered mine on the 15th and they still haven’t shipped it takes forever man. I also chose a better shipping option 15-21 days. We will see how long it takes. They have empty clone viewlix cabs for $350 and complete ones for $500-1000. I bet shipping is unreal for something that heavy.

This reminds me ... Some years ago, my mother was on vacation and got conned into buying an SD card for her camera, after the salesman showed her some print outs "proving" that his cards produce much better image quality. Supposedly, one picture had the colors washed out, and some noise added. This was supposed to represent image quality from a "regular" SD card. The other image was nicely saturated, without any noise, and represented the quality of his superior SD cards. Being an older lady, not accustomed to the modern day tech, she fell for it. It wasn't that much money, but damn ... the nerve ... I know some people do this to get by, and there's no real bad intent there, but I can't see myself selling dodgy wares to gullible seniors under false pretenses

This is a heartfelt rant. I enjoyed it, and agree.

Don't you find on ebay though that the same product is usually available but already in your country for maybe 10% more? I'll usually go for that, I know I'm being charged through the nose by someone who has just bulk bought 100 of them and stuck them on ebay but I just cannot be fucked waiting for stuff from china to turn up, I'd rather pay $1.10 and it turns up in two days. I'm thinking this practice shouldn't inflate the prices too much as bulk buyers will only be paying the $10 china tax across the whole bulk buy, right?

    Just a thought.
