"Hello, yes, we know literally everyone that uses eBay also uses PayPal, but we're going to make it harder for you to use PayPal because we care about making more money than giving you an easy experience."

Adyen is not US-based... wonder how many zillions of tax dollars Ebay saves by this move?

That email they sent out explaining this hurt my little brain something fierce.

yeah, i actually skimmed through the notice, and i had no idea this was the impact. I thought Ayden was something on their backend, and not a new payment method.

I'm betting they add a fee to PayPal transactions at some point.

I was under the impression that the payment option was going to be in-house.

That is, the buyer pays via cc right to ebay. Just like on Amazon.

Adyen has more than 5,000 customers and 600 employees.

PayPal has 188 million users and 18,100 employees.

Do I sense a discrepancy? On the other hand, Adyen is "private", meaning less transparent, meaning neojedi should be on the right track with his guess. An interesting unicorn for sure.

i still find a handful of useful things on ebay.

Honestly, I doubt ebay will be relevant in 2023. It will be yard sale stuff and chinese junk.
