With all the recent talk about net neutrality and internet speed I think it is good time to compare speeds again.

Google now has an option on their website: https://www.google.com/search?q=speed+test

My internet is pretty much crap so I'm sure everyone will be way ahead. But it can serve as a benchmark

hardwired: 120 mbps down
wireless (2.4ghz band): 27 mbps down
wireless (5.0ghz band): 75 mbps down

Here's the result from my work laptop over WiFi. The Google test is completely unreliable, and seems almost random. I can do tests one after another, and get anything between 12 and 80 Mbps up. Ridiculous.

Well... I pay... £38 p/m... for my broadband, phone and TV package...

The TV package is the lowest one Virgin media do... as I generally "acquire" stuff to watch...

Interesting. Are other people seeing this too? I tried it 3 times and got very similar results each time.

Down: 27.5
Up: 5.40

Down: 27.6
Up: 5.66

Down: 27.6
Up: 5.92

Holy shit....that is silly cheap. You want basic cable, that kind of internet, and IP phone where I live? $125/mo+

My shit Comcast internet only package which is often 30Mbps down, 5Mbps up is $70/mo...

We had TWC, bought by Spectrum, a month later our bill goes up 40 bucks. 2/3 increase of what we were paying. No change in service. Kinda shammy if you ask me.

Shit I have Optimum and I'm paying $200 and I don't have the max INTERNET speed or any movie channels. Fuckin Rip Off.
