Garou mvs sound issues

So i got a garou mvs cart dirt cheap , but there is a distortion to some of the soundeffects/music and some sounds just fine.
Where do i begin to troubleshoot this?
I have cleaned the contact so thats not it.

Make sure the boards are legit.

Then check for broken traces or cracked/weak solder joints relating to the M and V roms.

Lastly check the legs of the PCM IC on the prog board.

This probably isn't it but I would also clean your volume potentiometer and make sure it is set at 20%-30% and no more. Neo Geo likes to clip/distort a lot of shit once you go past that depending upon your setup. Usually it is high pitched sound effects from my experience.

I hate to state this but one of the V chips has probably gone bad.

I have checked every solder joint and trace and cant find anything so i guess one of the chips are bad , not much more i can do then.

It can be repaired but would involve a 4meg SMT and dip adapter...
