Why are 'first responders' being increasingly honored on 11 November?

Maybe soon we can just call it Government Employee Appreciation Day so that our postal carrier and CBO accountants and bureaucrat heroes of all types will finally get the thanks (and 15% Applebee's discount) they deserve.

    Merry Armistice Day all.

Armistice Day is way better than Veteran's Day, that's for sure.

Veteran's Day honors people for joining the military and killing people all across the world.

Armistice Day honors that brief period when everybody decided to temporarily stop butchering each other.

Here in Köln, we celebrate the Carnival Campaign a.k.a. Elfter im Elften um 11:11 Uhr! The benefit of just another lost war we started. But somehow, there's no difference between mourning for those, who died and getting dead drunk. Life as we know it, is short anyway.

This is rhetorical, right? There's no Pilsner in a 15 kilometer radius around here, but thanks God tomorrow's Sunday Bloody Sunday ;).
