I'm currently using my 360 on a older KV40XBR800 which is a 4:3 tv. The 360 is hooked up via component as the tv has no vga or hdmi port.

When it's hooked up via component you're offered a fullscreen 4:3 option but, the only output is 480p.

VGA has 4:3 options of a much higher resolution but, the tv only has a DVI-D port.

Is there any way to use the 360 VGA cable and use a convert to DVI-D. Not one of those VGA to DVI-I converters. That simply doesnt work because it doesnt fit and even when you use one with the pins pulled the tv only accepts a digital signal in the dvi port.

Then use a hdmi to dvi cable. That's what I used to use to hook up my 360 to a clone noir cab. Will work fine assuming that TV supports 720p or higher

HDMI gives you only 2 resolution options on 360 both or which are 16:9. Wouldnt serve the purpose at all. If I wanted the picture letter boxed and higher resolution i'd just choose widescreen in the aspect settings instead of 4:3.

VGA cable into RGB->YPbPr transcoder. The VGA cable is the only way to get HD 4:3 modes out of the 360. Also, beware: some games don't properly support it, and will give you a 16:9 image inside black-bars on 1024x768, for example, even if they fully support 4:3 480p.

It sucks that it doesnt work for higher resolutions on games that are already 480 4:3 Btw thanks for the informatino.
