I would say that it's fair game to list here. Aggressors of Dark Kombat also has a lot of Beat em Up gameplay elements to it as well but I would say it's still a VS fighter.

5a - King of the Monsters

Hell, why not ;).

1. Fu'un Super Tag Battle
2. Ninja Master's
3. Samurai Spirits III
4. Waku Waku 7
5. Shin Goketsuji Ichizoku

Glad to see someone say Kizuna Encounter/Fu'un STB. Fucking love that game. Interesting how the tag mechanic works in that game, where you have to be in a certain spot and you HAVE to switch out characters before health gets low or else you lose the match. Some might not like it, but it's different at least.

You'll also have to use your 'switch-sides' move very often, especially with the last boss, who is cheap as ever. This game is tailor made for a 2-player versus blast, though. No need to bother with the single player too much, which I'd rarely say about other SNK fighters. With its legere gameplay, bigger than usual sprites and all switching, Kizuna feels like a perfect party game.

Hehe... can you post me a link, where you listed your Top Five 20 years ago? Anxious to learn the inflation rate of certain games.

Honestly, most of the JP titles are similarly priced to what they were when I started collecting in 2000. The US games though, that's a whole different story.

MOTW seems to have appreciated, I've seen some JP copies selling for ~1200 lately, I recall them being closer to $600 back then.

Thanks... but I meant inflation of popularity among players. SSIV doesn't show up as often now, just as SSIII wouldn't back then. Top 5s has been asked countless times, but answers always vary.

I still like some of the old stuff. You know... Samurai Shodown I (1993), Last Blade (1997), Last Blade II (1998), Samurai Shodown V (2003), Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Real bout Fatal Fury. The least i could mention was 6. 5 was too limiting
