Hi everybody! ("Hi, Dr. Nick!")
So, a couple weeks ago I won an eBay auction for MotW AES for $655. I was high.
When I woke up next morning and realized what I'd done, it had already shipped. From UAE.
Just got it in, and it is SO Freakin obvious that the label was just printed off of somebody's laserjet printer and glued to the cart it's sickening.
HOWEVER...I opened it out of morbid curiosity, and the FREAKING BOARDS LOOK LEGIT.
I'm at a loss, because this would be a hell of a deal if it's legit (and I can certainly imagine a case where someone accidentally ruined their label and just decided to print another one).
Now, I already have a return approved by seller. I told him WHY I wanted to, and that if he'd refund me $200 I would just keep it instead. He declined. Which makes me believe him when he says he got the game in that condition and knows nothing about it...a bit.
So I'm wondering if you fine gents would care to take a look and give me your opinions...

ONLY thing that looks off is the lack of TOSHIBA chips. All the others match up.

If the game actually works, then it is legit. Four games used the PROGLBA board (KOF 99, KOF 2000, MS3, MOTW), each game has a uniquely keyed NEO-SMA decryption chip for the P ROMs. In short, you can't take a cheap PROGLBA game like KOF 99 and convert it to MOTW because of the NEO-SMA chip, unless you swapped the chip which would be a phenomenal feat. The NEO-SMA does not appear to be resoldered, so you're fine.

I used to own a label-less MOTW AES, don't sweat the fake label, enjoy your game.

If it bothers you. You could always have a high quality label reproduced and slap it over that one. What's important is that the boards are legit. It's hard to find a MOTW under $1000 now in days. Been trying to find this game at a decent price for years.

Why don't you post pictures of the solder side? Did you noticed that the gold warning sticker is missing too?

The solder sides are all factory solder, nothing of note to see. Also, every AES cart I own is missing the sticker. I'm sure that's not a problem.
