Neo Geo layout on a Capcom type control panel

There is a good chance I get an arcade cabinet which comes with a 6 button layout, Capcom style. What is the best way to wire this up (as I don't want to add extra holes)? Is there a "standard" for this sort of thing?

I was thinking:

:B::C::D:
:A: X X

or...

:A::B::C:
:D: X X

or...?

Depends on the games you are going to play. If the cp has a curve to the buttons your first layout would probably be best. A lot of the older games only use a, b, and c so your second layout would work best for them and even for games like the real bouts and last blades. For kof or Sam sho 1 and 2 I would do something like

A. B. X.
C. D. X.

Or

A. C. X.
B. D. X.

For kof. It's all personal preference really.

Those would be hard to play on these layouts I guess:

CD

AC
BD

I agree to an extent, if I have an 8 button stick I rather just use the top row and give my wrist a break from the angle twist.

I agree also with the advice given. Just get a 4 button CP, alberto does a great job, catch him while the catching is good.
