Good for Brand Recognition I guess. When are we getting something that ISN"T king of fighters though? I'd even take a new burning fight or mutation nation over this.

Not what I was hoping for. Maybe it's just a sideshow and there are more full fledged console games in the making...?

Yeah you're dreaming if you think we're getting anything other than KOF.

I'm pretty sure we will get a Samurai Shodown game (at least) before the next (main) KOF.

I guess there's nothing wrong with SNK trying to keep a balanced portfolio between mobile and console offerings, but didn't they already try something just like this?...

I do not understand the why SNK feels the need to get into the MMORPG market. We already have our RPG with SSRPG.

Please SNK, just stick to fighting games and shooters.

I'm intrigued a bit, though the title reminds me of Mugen. When you take into consideration that China's market is heavily into mobile games and MMOs, a disappointment will still probably a decent profit for SNK.

I hope I'm wrong since I do love me some hi-res king of fighters characters, but I think this was just a concept trailer. The graphics will likely look nothing like this.

You mean the RPG that came out for the Neo Geo CD about 20 years ago and never made it to the US? Wouldn't really call it "our RPG".

Also, its silly to say that they've made one game in one genre, therefore that's all we need until the end of time. Having them stick strictly to both fighting games and shooters narrows their ability to use and create IPs. They need to expand into other genres and make a splash, provided the games are developed well.

Anyways, for this, I'm both excited as its a new in-house SNK mobile offering (unlike the other ones that were released in China and Korea, which were developed by third parties using the SNK IP), and wary of it because its bound to be another "freemium" game that requires a heavy investment to really enjoy.

I understand where you are coming from. The reason I say this is it is obvious they are making another game for a specific market. I know one game in a genre does not mean said genre is completed. I just think they could use their IPs better.

Remember when they used Metal Slug and SS for Pachinko machines? Stick to fighting games and everything should be fine. Do what you do best.

With mobile, RPGs, or games with RPG elements are what make money. There needs to be exp, levels, and items to acquire so they can have various monetary ways of acquiring and progressing. Metal Slug Defense/Attack are two great examples of how this works, while not being straight up true blue RPGs.

Using an IP for Pachinko machines is a different ball of wax. They're just branding for games that are basically the same no matter what their branding or themes are. It does nothing more than catch your eye to get your butt in a seat and spend money. For proof of this, look no further than the casinos here in Las Vegas, where there's slot machines themed after things you'd never expect to see (such as The Beverly Hillbillies).

Isn't one of SNK's largest investors right now a Chinese company? Makes sense to me. And obviously the game won't look anything like the FMV sequence. This is still a mobile game, after all. They are going to try and make it work on various configurations. I am excited for it even if I don't ever play it because in the end, it's still a new SNK game and will breath life into the their franchises regardless.

So are they gonna go the Marvel: CoC route and make it a one-finger F2P fighter?

Not that that's a bad thing. It's been hard for me to get into the KoF mobile games since it's such bullcrap to expect to be any good with touchscreen controllers.

well, let's see how it plays.
Even though I didn't expect it to work, Rhythm of Fighters wasn't that bad...
