Neo Geo CD top loader won't spin discs

Hi all, hoping I can get some advice.

Just got a Neo Geo CD (top loader). Powers on, brings me to the CD player screen. The lens moves to the beginning of the disc but nothing spins. I have taken the top cover off and manually moved the laser away from the spindle, when I do that I can move the spindle around with my finger. When I move the laser back to the beginning I can no longer move the spindle with my finger.

Can anyone give some advice on anything that I can adjust to allow the spindle to move when the laser is in it's first disc read position? I've checked some YouTube videos and other forum posts to find people with a similar problem but could not find an actual resolution... Kinda bummed out right now

Update.... think i've fixed it myself... pulled the spindle up from the rest of the assembly and tested, seems to be running fine now.

Regrease the tracks.

On mine I had to recalibrate the laser...

I guess what James said is also a very good maintenance to do.
Will do it,next time I open it up for cleaning.

Still need to find a little dipswitch for my region mod, without messing up my case...
