My childhood says LifeForce, but as an adult I've grown to appreciate Gradius more.

I'm partial to Life Force. It was one of the first three NES games I bought.

when i first played gradius, i thought it couldn't get any better. until i played salamander.

i like the level design, visuals and boss fights better in salamander.

I only ask because I like the NES Life Force more than NES Gradius but prefer arcade Gradius vs arcade Salamander. However, if you include Gradius II in the argument then it's a slam dunk for Gradius for both arcade and console.

I love Gokujou Parodius and Sexy Parodius, and they make me want to pick Gradius as my choice. But Life Force's environments and bosses just stand out to me. A giant brain with arms and a bulging eyeball? Hell yes.
