Pre-Made dip switch for the 138 in 1 green MVS cartridge? Gauging interest.

Would anyone be interested in this? I am about to order 50 bare PCbs to make this a plug in play mod. I already have the PCB design made with a PCB company. will probably take a week to get made and shipped to me. Once I solder the parts in, all you have to do is Unplug the daughter board from the cartridge, and plug straight into the premade PCB and you are ready to go. no cutting or splicing required.

was thinking about $10-$15 shipped? what do you guys/gals think?

Is this worth the time? Does anyone care? would only be useful for CMVS users, and maybe those 4 slot users where the daughter board cable wont reach to the jamma connector.

let me know. Im ready to pull the trigger on this .

Newb question here but how does the dip switch operate? Is it like a garage door remote?

A dip switch is either open or shut. One switch has two slots for games. Two dps has four spaces for games. Three dps has nine, etc. There'll be enough dps combos for 138.

nornor1 probably has a list they could post.

refer to this thread where I believe Fandagos figured this out. and another user GadgetUK explains how it all works.

    http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showth...th-binary-code

there are also DipSwitch codes in that thread.

Had a few users ask about getting this made for them, so I thought about making it as easy as possible. The Demand might not be that high, but I think if a board is made, and people find out about it, maybe the demand will be there. I figured 50 pieces would be enough lol. not trying to get rich off of this.

True but if he does them at $10 shipped, it isn't much profit.

    Or risk.

Niko handled two (?) group buys as a newb successfully with more money involved.

Placed order for PCB's today. will keep you posted. hopefully they turn out correctly. I should get them this weekend, or early next week. here is the design.

Spacing is 2.54mm on top 3 row of holes, and 2.0mm for the bottom row of holes. thats where you plug the carts plug into.

modified Fandangos list to read a little better when looking at the dipswitch. so 0= on, and the numbers 1-9 correspond to the dip you switch down or off. hopefully this helps.

so for 3 count bout you just turn dipswitch 3,5,6,8 off, and that game will boot up.

This looks nice. Minor suggestion: the list may be easier and faster to read if you use a dash instead of number zero, like: 1--45--89

good idea. when you print it out it doesn't look so bad. you can also get away with just the numbers you turn off. like 14589 too I guess.

Does the cart operation differ, if any, when using the dip switches versus the daughter board ? Obviously I know there is no menu and that the selected game loads. I guess what I mean, is if there is still the 30-ish second load or not.

correct No menu. Once you set the Dips and power on the system, The game you set loads instantly.

the PCB place was ExpressPCB.com Pretty good prices too. They have a 5 day shipping option and a 2day. I chose the 2day. it wasnt that much more. the majority was the tooling setup fee or something like that. like $60 bux. was about $160 for the PCB's and then plus the cost of the components.

OK I just got back From the post Office. Shipping Alone internationally is Around $13.50(padded envelope), and I have to fill out customs forms. Until I find a way to ship these out cheaper, I might have to charge about $19 total internationally. Anybody have any Ideas or tips to get these shipped cheaper? the issue is the chip is a little too thick and is counted as a "Rigid Object". Im going to try to see If I can find some smaller envelopes, and maybe just tape the envelope so it does not tear, and see how that goes.

    just sent this out today.

Maybe sell them on Ebay? I can probably use their global shipping program. then I could probably charge $10 for everybody free shipping . What do you guys think?
