MVS & AES NEOSD flash card... AES Version ANNOUNCED & AVAILABLE!!

Apparently the first Neo-Geo MVS flash card has been released.

    Here the review

    http://vgleaks.com/review-neosd-mvs/

768 Mbits of flash memory, enough to hold the largest officially released games, plus some extra space for system software.
ARM Cortex M4 at 168MHz, 1MB flash, 128KB RAM. For SD access, Flash programming, cartridge control and original cartridge protections emulation.
2x Lattice XP2 FPGA. Flash based, instant-on, low power, high density FPGAs. For bus decoding and multiplexing, flash access, bank switching, programming help.
Supports micro SD & SDHC cards up to 32GB. FAT32 with long file names.
User friendly game selection menu with game screenshots.
Instant boot to the last flashed game. It appears as an original cartridge to the board, and can use the bios softdips configuration with the original cart.
Runs original games unpatched, emulating the original cartridge protections in hardware.
Ability to boot to the game flash menu from in-game (configurable trigger combination)
Can be used for game development. Allows the homebrew games to access expanded hardware features (S rom banking, increased bank area space).
Updateable system software and firmware for future additions and features.
Switch cartridge region without needing special bios.
MVS board AES emulation without needing special bios.
    380 euros

    Thoughts??

Is this related in any way to the long awaited Darksoft flash cart? Looks different.

Sort of mysterious, and they're certainly not advertising who is responsible for this product.
Odd choice to create a shell that looks like an AES cart rather than MVS.

Welp! Looking forward to impressions from folks over here.

totally out of the blue, if what they say in the specs there are true.. That flash cart will play _ALL_ original NeoGeo games and will not have to use roms with patched out protections.

Its defo different from darksofts device. I have spent some time looking over the videos and it will be using the banking in an identical way to how NeoGeoLand will operate if it ever happens. Clearly they have spent some time here, right down to having the sd card accessable outside the cart shell. A very polished product although I think the UI could be better.

I just had a look in DS forum and it seems they are already playing the 'look at those loading times' compared to ours type game, I guess they currently fail to realise this device is a one time load during a game change and not at every power on like with their device. Even their own poll suggested users wanted the device the way this one works.

At the end of the day though it will probably come down to which one can play the original games and at the moment this one wins on that front given what DS said would be required with the protected games.

Yes, when you flash one game it works like an original one. It loads this game instantaneous if you reset or turn-on the mvs. It is not erased from the memory until you flash a new game.

Sorry I missed your post yesturday tcdev.

This is right and I do it this way myself and so do many other devs. Its the most logical and easy way with the current tools available. Even with a SDcard based flashcart I don't see the dev process would change at all. PC-2-NEO thankfully removes the pain when testing on the neoCD, it would still be easier to use that over a SDcard based flashcart providing what your testing fits into the neoCD RAM spec.

    Where a cart with USB/RAM comes in handy however (even if only the P ROM space is RAM) are the possibilities you are opened up to over using a flashcart with SDcard. For example with special MAME build;

    1) Uploading to RAMcart directly from MAME debugger.
    2) Easily set breakpoints on real hardware etc from debugger.
    3) Uploading MAME savestates.
    4) Pulling the 68k state/workram from the NeoGeo back into MAME for simple debugging from that state (within reason, some NeoGeo aspects are write only).
    5) Tracing and single stepping on real HW while looking at the ASM in the MAME debugger.

The list goes on. For me, given I have worked in software house, I would probably want MAME in such a way that it was talking with the cart always over using its emulation aspects at all, MAME would be the host, the cart the slave and I would always execute on the cart.

This would be my dream setup with a RAMcart. I need to remember I'm a pure ASM programmer though and some of these things are probably no good for a dev working with libraries and compilers only.

    Hello guys,

We would like to anounce that our bank has finally removed all limits we had on our credit card payment system for USA cards.
For reasons we still dont know, we had a lot of no sense rules to stop transactions from USA and Canada credit cards, so some of you had trouble trying to purchase with those credit cards.

Thanks for your time and sorry for any inconveniences.

Are there still issues when ordering in the U.S.? I don't want to make an order & then find out my bank froze my credit card. There's no way to use paypal to checkout right?

The buttons on the kidney are not arcade buttons, so the feeling may be different.

Any experience with those tototek PS2/PS1 controller adapters?

I can confirm that those ps1/2 adapters work perfectly on the AES. I use various sticks on my AES with zero lag. I love those adapters
