Will a Japanese MegaDrive top shell fit on a Genny?

Should work, if your two systems are close enough along the line of revisions.

What are you actually solving for, though? This sounds convoluted and destructive to a poor Mega Drive somewhere.

I say take a Genesis and shave the funny corners on the cartslot. I did that with mine and it looks fine. Plays everything after i installed a region switch on the back.

Was just curious. I have a genesis that works but the top of the case is pretty beat up. Was thinking about swapping the top of the case for a defective japan md. Don't think I'm going to do it, just wanted to know if it could be done for future reference just for the look.

You need to check the ports on the back. I tried this once and it didn't fit.

If the shell is really trashed, you might try to make a more radical project out of it. You never know what a less than ideal situation mixed in with a little creativity can brew.

Yes, I've noticed that the Genny has more ports then the JP MD.

Game genie works as well.

It's not a matter of playing the games as I already have a mega key and both region systems. Just thought it would be kind of cool to have a Genny with a nicer looking JP MD shell.
