So a little bit of back store about how i got the cab. Im chilling a local classic game store when i over here a customer ask if the owner was interested in an arcade cab, this catches my attention and i listen to what is going on. Basically this guy has an old dead 4 slot cab that needs some help and no longer wants it, the owner tells him he would be interested if he had the space for it but already has 2 cabs in his store and doesnt have room for 3. I ask if the owner minds if i make an offer as i dont wanna "step on his toes" and screw him out of a deal. The says he doesnt mind and the seller tells me he would no less then 200, so i ask for pics and we exchange phone numbers. About 2 weeks later i now own a 4 slot mvs cab that looks like this20160730_103151.jpg

After about a week of just cleaning the outside and inside of the cab and painting and ordering parts i got her to look like this

I then started to work on the stencil for the vinyl.

i was going to do the red vinyl without the lettering and paint the letters on bc all the places that i called the vinyl was more then i wanted to pay for multi colored vinyl. I then decided to paint the cab as this was my first cab restore but not my first restore of something older, i looked up how people fill in holes on arcades and to my delight i found out that they use body filler for cars. So i get to work taking off the vinyl and bondoing the cab

and sanding

and after looking around on neo-geo i found a member who already took the hard work of getting color matching paint for the cab. I just took a pic and went to home depot and they scanned the pic i took. here is that members page for his restore

and my cabs 1st coat

and final coat of paint, each side has 3 layers of paint

More to come later :)

Hell yeah dude, i remember you sending me the pic of when you first got it. Looking good, looks like you put some work into it. But i guess its not considered work if your enjoying what your doing.
Did you get her back up and running? Was it the flyback and the iso?

Looking good so far!

Is everything else in working order?
(judging from AJtheMishima's post, there were some things to fix...)

The original 4 slot had dead backup ram, so i traded a buddy of mine a av famicom for his working 4 slot board. also while moving the cab it had a loose ground wire that the PO didnt screw down all the way that ended up resting on the isolation transformer, and when i went to turn the cab on i head a "pop". And now i have a dead flyback, which is ok bc i think the monitor was due for a cap kit anyways, just gives me anther reason to take the monitor board out :)

the main thing is you cant play any of your mvs carts right now, especially that shock trooper. Big Mama misses you!

Thanks for the kind words everyone:) here is a small update. I installed L.E.Ds instead of bulbs into the coin door area, these are 194 bulbs that i had lying around from an old project car that i had. It helps make the red "deeper" in color instead of the old white colored bulbs. These L.E.Ds can be found almost any where, but the cheapest i have seen them are on ebay and can be picked up in just about any color and any sized bulk.20160909_152101.jpg

I also painted the metal sheild on the 4 slot board, just waiting on the decals to finish the board off20160909_152350.jpg

And the last thing i started was the sideart. The picture is not my own, i pulled it from the internet and had office depot print the pic on poster sized paper, i then used transfer paper to draw it on the cab and then painted over the lines left by the transfer paper :)

It looking pretty good so far, also too bad about the flyback, but being that you were replacing the monitor anyway it isnt the end of the world. but at least you found out there was a loose ground wire.

Bet its going to be an awesome looking cab when its all up and running. :)

I feel like if you're going to have a monitor problem, the flyback's a pretty nice problem to have. Way cheaper than having to replace a monitor completely!

You've done a great job, I have the exact same cabinet to renovate and I'm a bit jealous of all the good work you've done so far ! :)

Nice job! I dunno about the side art, but I will wait and see what it looks like finished. This is a tremendous job. Thanks for sharing.
