Anybody picking this up? I'm nuts for DQ - I've got the physical game on pre-order + I'm doing the pre-load so I can play it @ midnight on the 16th.

It's one of my fave DQs - it has it all - a time traveling story, casinos, extensive job system.

I'll definitely get it. I picked up the Playstation one a while back, but let's be honest, I don't have time to play it at home, the only way I'm going to get through it is on a portable. Also, all the past DQ DS games have been good times.

*edit*

I didn't know this was coming out in a couple of weeks!

Pretty excited for this to finally come out. TBH I was pretty surprised that squeenix actually localized it. I didn't think they would since it seemed like they were ignoring DQ when it came to English speakers this console generation.

Definitely going to pick this up. I missed it on Playstation, and actually, I've only played DQ VIII and DQ IX. If I were to go back and play an earlier one, would DQ V on DS be the way to go?

All of the DS games are great. You don't have to play them in chronological order either, the games have little to do with each other. I love V.

Pre ordered this and VIII back in march.

VII is a beast of a game remake helps the aging look of the PS1 version.

I've got it on pre-order and can't wait. Loved the PS1 original (probably my second favourite DQ game), and I loved the look of it back in the day, although I could understand why people thought it looked dated.

Doesn't look like there's a strategy guide for it. I have an extra PS1 version somewhere I'll probably put up for sale soon.

I can't wait for DQVII and VIII. I didn't think either one would get localized since they came out so long ago. Definitely picking them up at launch.

Does VII fix the game breaking bug? One of the islands if you don't get the piece can actually lock you out of the game. It happened to me the first playthrough I did.

How does DQ 7 compare to 4 and 5? I played through DQ 4 several years ago on the DS and absolutely loved it.

7 has a huge world with a lot of back tracking for pieces. its not really as linear as 4 or 5. Still a great story and a great follow up to 6.

I'm getting it for sure. None of the main story handhelds have let me down yet.

VIII is also on the way, and hopefully Dragon Quest Theatrhythm

I love the Dragon Quest series but haven't had the motivation to play the remakes of VII or VIII, and I dunno if I ever will. Beat the originals and that was good enough for me.

As a member of woodus forums I did help in campaigning to get these games brought to the west, so I am glad that they're finally coming here. I may purchase both just to show support, but I'm more excited for DQXI tbh especially the 3DS version with both modern and oldschool graphics.

I've never played it before when it was a Sony thing so I'm interested, but I'm also kind of afraid to pop for it because I know I can't commit 100 hours to an RPG as it's just stupid and insane for me to even try that. My tolerances tend to cap out around 30-40hours total tops on any RPG. I know if you pre-order you get a free unique Akira Toriyama made DQ theme for your 3DS background to boot up to.

I wish you could do a game like these that short if you cut out the fluff.

I admit it has some padding and backtracking, but the story and the job system make up for it and you won't be bored after 30 hours in. It took me like 110 hours on the first playthrough years ago, but when I played it again, it took about 65 hours.

It's not so much that I get bored, but I want to play something else and it starts feeling like a chore to do so, then I switch and conveniently make excuses or legit reasons not to come back to it as another game or something else comes up. I just know my limits, but still I really do enjoy the dragon quest world so it's a toss up if I bother.

I really..really really hope it's better than the android version. Maybe it's the angle, maybe it's the framerate. But I will give it another chance on the 3ds. Worst case I'll bust out the PS2.

I'm a sucker for DQ games I enjoy this chit chat going on (don't usually listen to this stuff but I'm ont he clock with it in the background) and I think I could really dig DQ7. Hated it left Nintendo then so I never got to play it. I know I can't finish it, but with the amazon prime 20% off discount I could see still getting my value out of it before I stop. And finding a guide for this to help my motivation should be pretty easy as I see them pop up at half price books now and again.

Edit: I caved, preordered, had a teeny credit on file already from that settlement thing so it was $29.50~ shipped so I'm good. I'll find $30 in value in it and being a preorder a nice DQ themed 3DS boot up menu theme too.

So what's the word? everyone excited? It drops tomorrow right?

I'm on the fence. I love DQ games but I'm concerned about the amount of hrs required to complete this one.

I'm getting this Saturday. I'm such a sucker for the main titles in this series. No previous games in the main series have let me down, and I don't think this title will be any different.

Amazon sent me some email saying it shipped I think yesterday, given they seem to have supplies in some warehouse in every state these days I would not be surprised if it is here with the mailman or UPS by 6pm~ today. My concern is the hours, but with a small few dollar settlement credit plus the 20% off prime deal for preorder I figured for under $30 I'll get enough hours to justify it as long as the fun is there until I burn out. Right now i'm working on DQ DQH Rocket Slime I found about a week ago trying ot finish off much of it, may even wait on this new game until then.
