Hi,
first of all thanks for accepting me in the forum. I've recently fulfilled my childhood dream and bought 2 Neo Geo AES. Both in 'not tested' condition. Both have different problems. This one is has a NEO-AES3-6 board and image problems.
When booting the Logo doesn't appear, the text ist ok. Sound is playing and after a while the foreground of the game is showing up (health bar and 'press start')
You can see this in this short and bad video I've took: http://youtu.be/thgs8Rnxatc
Here is an image of the board:
And here is a part of the board that looks strange to me:
This strange capacitor between the leg of the VRAM and the board doesn't look original.
I've just ordered a unibios and some replacement VRAM, but maybe this won't fix my problem.
Can anybody give me a hint where else to look while waiting for the bios?
Thanks a lot,
Holger
EDIT:
Interesting: I've just 'played' a little more around to see what else could be broken and I've moved the game a little out of the slot (on the right side) while keeping the contacts. The result is following:
the colors are not ok and the sound is now missing. But maybe it's just the cartridge slot which needs a desoldering or the game is broken.
Unfortunately this is my only game yet, so I'm not able to test the console with another cartridge.
