UPDATE: NEW THREAD: http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?267984

#######################################################

I've long been putting my PCBs inside of "sandwiches", usually with fiberboard and hex standoffs.
Spoiler:

I find it helps to protect the board, assists with quick swapping in/out of a cab's belly, and sits well next to a supergun.

I wanted to dress up my Cave CV1000 boards a little fancier, a little sturdier.

Thus, the CaveWich was born.

I had one of these - I think it came secondhand from Kiel, or maybe Kiel made it, not sure. They are awesome and yours might even be a thicker acrylic and the blue looks awesome. Adds some protection and makes them look awesome. Highly recommend these.

I'd buy one of these kits.

Looks both functional and like something I'd want to display.

Any chance of shorter legs to make it more compact for a future run? :) Nice work btw!

Any chance of a quintuple-layer-club-CAVE-which? I don't own 5 SH3 games, but it would be cool to see nonetheless.

These look amazing!

Any problems with static electricity and/or dust? I think Kiel had some issues with his.

Shorter legs? You mean the supports? There's about 10mm clearance under the PCB to make sure the JAMMA connector fits. About 5mm clearance up top to make sure the heat sink isn't touching the top acrylic panel. Can't get much more compact than that. :)

These look amazing!

Dust? It's open on the sides, not fully encased. Overall they keep by boards much cleaner than without anything. Static? No issues for me any more than I would have with other plastic enclosures (IE.. basically every console and electronics board out there).

Already got you on a list for the PGM version hookup. :)

I'd stack this shit to the moon if I had enough boards! :keke: (Still won't help me 1CC all of em. :lolz:)

First batch prepping to go out.

I'll send out payment info to those in the first group.

Taking a list for those interested in the second batch I should be making in the next week or two!

Additionally, I'll throw in a keychain for the first couple groups until I run out.

I'm interested in 3 CV1000 cavewiches. I'd also be interested in some PGM cavewiches too.

No offense to the effort here, maybe I feel like shitting on the parade, but I'm curious why you went with acrylic over something like Static-dissipative PVC.
I thought it was somewhat common knowledge that acrylic is known for its electrostatic discharge. Would hate for people to buy into something that they don't know the risks involved (WHOOPS just fried my $1200 cave game!!!)

Otherwise, carry on.

I thought about this too. I do, however dig the sandwich for his OTHER boards though. prevents the need of having to screw it onto the PCB mounting board, makes for quick swaps.

It seems like a pretty low risk, but it's something to consider. I mean, clean rooms sometimes use acrylic so it can't be too bad, right?

it's REALLY dry where I live, especially in the winter time so static builds up in the air and is discharged VERY easily. It's not a risk I'm willing to take.
